Bagha Jatin [meaning - Tiger Jatin] is an upcoming Indian Bengali-language Biographical-Historical film scheduled to be released on October 20, 2023, in Bengali and Hindi simultaneously.
Dev plays the lead role in Bagha Jatin. The film also features Sudipta Chakraborty, Sreeja Dutta, and Carl A. Harte in pivotal roles.
Jatin Bagha narrates the story of revolutionary Jatindranath Mukherjee, who tried to pull the country of British slavery using armed insurrection in 1915, much before India won its independence in 1947.
Born in Kavya village, Kushita District (undivided Bengal, now in Bangladesh), Jatindranath Mukherjee kindled the flame of revolution against the colonial British rule in the Indian subcontinent.
In 1906, the first child of Jatin passed away at the age of three. He embarks on a journey to Haridwar (a pilgrimage) with his wife and sister to recover their inner peace.
After returning from the pilgrimage journey, Jatin learned about the presence of a tiger in the vicinity. While finding the tiger in the forest, Jatin faces the fierce Royal Bengal Tiger.
Jatin fought three hours with the Royal Bengal Tiger, all alone, with the help of a small dragger. He eventually killed the tiger but got wounded, and his whole body got poisoned due to the tiger's nail.
Impressed by the bravery and heroism, the government of Bengal awarded Jatin a silver shield, and Jatindranath Mukherjee became Jatin Bagha, where Bagha means 'Tiger' in Bengali.
