Movie Plot

Banchhada (or Banchada) is a tribe in central India that is traditionally identified with prostitution. The Banchhada society mainly lives in the states of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.

The flesh trade has a social sanction in the Neemuch, Ratlam, and Mandsaur districts of Madhya Pradesh. The members of the Banchhada community operate family-based prostitution for livelihood.

The Banchhada community considers the birth of a girl auspicious because it means another breadwinner for the family. Girls are turned into prostitutes by their parents when they are between 12 and 14 years old.

The fathers and brothers act as pimps and make all the necessary arrangements for the very purpose. The family house has a dedicated room for this purpose exclusively.

Film Banchhada: Journey of a prostitute depicts the story of one such poor girl from Banchhda Samaj (Society). The family tries to force her into prostitution in the name of custom.

The story further shows the mother, who can understand the pain of a daughter as she was once forced into the hands of society.
