Anand (Vijayendra Ghatge) is an honest and upfront forest officer in Ramgarh. He lives happily with Laxmi, his pregnant wife (Anjana Mumtaz).
Anand and Laxmi have two adolescent sons, Suraj (Sanjay Jog) and Chandar (Mohan Bhandari). Dinu (Vikas Anand) also lives with Anand as a reliable domestic help. Dinu has a son Raju (Govinda), whom Anand and Laxmi have bought up as their own. Suraj and Chander are almost the same age as Raju but don't like their parents to treat him like their son.
Kunwar Saab alias JK (Raza Murad) visits the office of Anand ((Vijayendra Ghatge) with his rifle in his hand. While talking, they hear gunshots and witness dacoits after a police vehicle. Kunwar and Anand shoot dead a few dacoits, and some flee.
The police van bears two big boxes full of gold. The security guard of the police van is dead during the firing. The driver is alive, but JK shoots him dead.
JK then offers to divide the gold 50-50, and when Anand denies it, he takes him to his gunpoint. Anand plays a mind game and agrees to the proposal of JK for the time being.
Anand asks JK to hide the vehicle. While JK pushes down the police van from a cliff, Anand hides the gold boxes and runs to save his life. JK fires at Anand, who gets badly injured. Anand somehow reaches home but dies in a few minutes.
JK also reaches Anand's house with his goon. Servant Dinu helps pregnant Laxmi (Anjana Mumtaz) and three children. JK shoots Dinu dead, but Laxmi and the three children survive and move to Mumbai. Soon Laxmi delivers a baby girl Asha (Anuradha Sawant).
Raju understands the critical financial condition of Laxmi, whom he calls his mother, and becomes a petty thief to become the breadwinner for the family. Raju remains uneducated but provides good education to Suraj (Sanjay Jog) and Chandar (Mohan Bhandari).
Time passes, and young Raju is now a master thug with his friend Bantu (Asrani). He, however, donates the maximum amounts he loots, especially from JK (Raza Murad), without knowing that JK is the man behind the death of Anand (Vijayendra Ghatge).
Nevertheless, Anand is still alive, and JK has made him captive for a long to know the whereabouts of two gold boxes.
JK has a daughter Mini (Varsha Usgaonkar), and a son Rakesh (Gulshan Grover). Raju falls in love with Mini, a brat. After some initial misunderstandings, Mini also falls for Raju.
In the meantime, Chander (Mohan Bhandari) becomes a Lawer, and Suraj (Sanjay Jog) becomes a Police Officer. Both Chander and Suraj become a pawn in the hands of JK.
Asha (Anuradha Sawant) falls in love with an honest Police Officer Ravi (Daboo Malik), and soon gets married. After marriage, when Asha and Ravi return home in a car, Rakesh comes there. He rapes Asha and shoots Ravi dead.
Raju now wants revenge on Rakesh, but it is not as easy as it seems. JK kidnaps Laxmi and her two sons and asks Anand to inform him about the whereabouts of the gold boxes.
