Brahmastra (Part 1: Shiva) Movie Synopsis

Brahmastra [meaning-an Astra (weapon) created by Brahma, the creator] is an upcoming multilingual Romantic Fantasy film in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. It is the first film in a planned trilogy. Brahmastra (Part-1 Shiva) was released on 9 September 2022 in theatres. 

Cast and Crew

Ayan Mukherjee is the Writer and Director of Brahmastra. Ayan started his journey as a Bollywood Director with Wake Up Sid (2009) with actor Ranbir Kapoor. He directed Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013) again with Ranbir Kapoor. Brahmastra is his 3rd Bollywood directorial, once again with Ranbir Kapoor. Ayan has directed three (3) video shorts with Ranbir Kapoor.

Karan Johar, Hiroo Yash Johar, Ranbir Kapoor, Ayan Mukerji, Apoorva Mehta, Namit Malhotra, and Marijke Desouza are the producers of Brahamstra.

Pritam Chakraborty has composed the music, and Amitabh Bhattacharya has penned lyrics for Brahmastra.

Cast

Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt are playing the lead roles in the film. Shah Rukh Khan plays a Cameo.

Amitabh Bachchan is portraying Prof. Arvind Chaturvedi.

Mouni Roy is the "only antagonist" in the film. Dimple Kapadia has also played a pivotal role.

South Star Nagarjuna Akkineni is playing an archaeologist in Brahmastra. He has made his comeback to Bollywood in 19 years. He last appeared in LOC: Kargil (2003).

Amitabh Bachchan and Dimple Kapadia have come together after 17 years. They last worked in Hum Kaun Hai (2004).

Divyendu Sharma, Rashi Mal, Chetna Pande, Yash Agnihotri, Rajesh Kalhan, Vishal Karwal, and Madhumalti Kapoor have played supporting roles in Brahmastra.

Budget and Box Office

 

The tentative budget of Brahmastra is 410 Cr. INR. It makes the film the Most Expensive Hindi Film of all time. Earlier, Thugs of Hindostan held the record with a Budget of 310 Cr. INR.

Movie Plot

Shiva (Ranbir Kapoor) is a young guy who loves Isha (Alia Bhatt). Shiva has exceptional power so that he does not get burnt by fire. Moreover, he can awaken BRAHMASTRA, the most effective weapon in the world.

Junoon (Mouni Roy) is the queen of dark forces. She is in search of the BRAHMASTRA to fulfilling her evil desires.

Can Shiva save the Brahmastra and stop Junoon? Film Brahmastra depicts the rest of the story.

 

Budget and Box Office Collection

Brahmastra is reportedly one of the most movies in Bollywood with a budget of around Rs. 300 Crore. It will release on 9 September 2022.

Production details

Karan Johar (one of the producers) announced the film on 11 October 2017, revealing that it would be a film trilogy. The preparation for the film started in January 2018.

In an interview, Ranbir Kapoor stated that the writer-director Ayan Mukerji worked six years to make an original story. He also informed that the trilogy would take more than then (10) years to complete.

Filming

The principal photography began in February 2018. The makers planned to commencement the first schedule on or before 24 February 2018.

Extensive shooting started on 1 February 2019 in Edinburgh, Scotland. The 20-day schedule started in the Ramnagar Fort and Chet Singh Fort in Varanasi on 30 July 2019.

Release

The makers initially announced 15 August 2019 as the release date of Brahmastra. However, they planned to push it to Christmas 2019.

The film got delayed due to COVID 19 epidemics, which affected shooting, post-production work, and release. The film was finally released on 9 September 2022.
