Ghayal (1990) stars Sunny Deol, Meenakshi Sheshadri, Raj Babbar and Amrish Puri in lead roles. Moushumi Chatterjee, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Shafi Inamdar and Om Puri played vital roles in the movie. Ghayal proved to be a Superhit Movie and became the 2nd Highest Grossing Bollywood Movie in the year 1990 after ‘Dil’. Ghayal was nominated in eight categories in Filmfare Awards held in 1991. Out of these 8 categories the movie won seven awards including Best Actor-Sunny Deol, Best Story and Best Director-Rajkumar Santoshi.
Movie Plot: A businessman Ashok Mehra (Raj Babbar) lives with his small happy family in Mumbai including his wife Indu (Mousumi Chatterjee) and younger brother Ajay (Sunny Deol), a trainee boxer who is in love with Varsha (Meenakshi Sheshadri).
Ashok faces some financial crisis but does not inform his family about the same. He sends Ajay to Bangalore for further boxing training. Meanwhile, a big businessman Balwant Rai (Amrish Puri) comes forward to help Ashok and becomes partner of his company and pays all debts of Ashok. But what Ashok does not know that Balwant Rai has done this to cover up his illegal activities.
Ashok finally comes to know the truth about Balwant and he starts collecting evidence against Balwant Rai. One Day he called up Ajay and wishes to inform that his life in danger but the phone was cut unexpectedly.
Ajay returns Mumbai only to know that his brother is missing. He filed Police complaint and does every possible leave turned but nothing goes in his way and one day his brother is found dead. The worst part is that Ajay is accused of murdering his brother and having illicit affair with his Indu who commits suicide after hearing all these allegations. Ajay then decides to take law in his hands and escapes from Jail along with some more good hearted prisoners to find the Killer of his brother and to take revenge by taking the law in his hand. However, ACP Joe D’Souza (Om Puri) vows to stop and shoot him.
