Godfather is the Telugu language Political Thriller film released in cinemas on 5 October 2022, coinciding with the festival of Vijayadashami (Dusshera).

Godfather is a remake of the Malayalam film Lucifer (2019) that featured Mohanlal, Vivek Oberoi, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Tovino Thomas, Indrajith Sukumaran, and Manju Warrier.

The tentative budget of Lucifer was 25 Crore INR. The film earned 175 Crore INR at Box Office and became the Highest Grossing Malayalam Movie.

Cast & Crew

Ram Charan, R.B. Choudary, and N.V. Prasad are the producers, whereas Mohan Raja is the Director of Godfather.

S. Thaman is the Music Director, Nirav Shah is the Cinematographer, and Marthand K. Venkatesh is the Film Editor of Godfather.

Cast

Chiranjeevi plays the title lead role in Godfather. The film also features Bollywood actor Salman Khan, Nayanthara, Puri Jagannadh, Indrajith Sukumaran, and Satyadev Kancharana in pivotal roles.

Brahmaji, Divi Vadthya, Gangavva, Murali Sharma, Parth Siddhpura, Rajiv Kumar Aneja, Rehan Katrawale, Samuthirakani, and Sunil play supporting roles in Godfather.

Prabhu Deva appears as himself in the song Thaar Maar Thakkar Maar. Warina Hussainappears as a bar dancer in the item song Blast Baby.

Movie Plot

P.K.R is the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. He has a son (Puri Jagannadh) and a daughter Sathyapriya (Nayanthara).

Jaidev (Satyadev Kancharana) is the husband of Sathyapriya. Jaidev is a notorious drug dealer known for real estate and hawala scams. He also links with Bombay Underworld, which is unknown to Sathyapriya.

The Chief Minister dies in a hospital, which belongs to the daughter of the opposite party. Taking advantage of the situation, believing it would benefit in the upcoming election, acting CM Mahesha Varma sends party activists to form a riot outside the hospital, accusing the leader of opposition of murder.

In the meantime, the ruling party declares the possible candidates include the names of the son of the late Chief Minister, Jaidev, Sathyapriya, and Brahma (Chiranjeevi), alias Godfather.

Brahma is described as the most dangerous among the possible candidate. The past of Brahma (Godfather) is unknown but is known about his contract work for post-war reconstruction in Iraq and Afghanistan and gold smuggling from Dubai to Kerala.

Everyone, who wants the throne, tries to stop Godfather from reaching the cremation of PKR. The city police commissioner follows the orders of the ruling party and tries his best to stop Godfather but fails.

Godfather later opposes the planning and smuggling of narcotics and becomes an obstacle to Jaidev.   How Godfather foils Jaidev's plan and exposes him forms the rest of the drama.
