Movie Plot Highlights

A Glimpse into the Characters' Lives

Gopal (Ajay Devgn) lives happily with his wife, Ekta (Kareena Kapoor), sister Esha (Amrita Arora), and Ekta's mute brother, Lucky (Tusshar Kapoor).

Ekta always watches Indian TV dramas and always suspects her husband that he is having an affair with someone else.

Esha is in love with a police inspector Madhav Singh Ghai (Arshad Warsi), who is not on good terms with Gopal and has made many failed attempts to take him to the law.

The mute Lucky (Tusshar Kapoor) is a hair stylist who falls for a pretty girl Daisy Kapoor (Anjana Sukhani). Coincidently the girl is deaf.

Gopal works at a fishery company run by Babloo Kapoor (Sharat Saxena), where Sawant (Murali Sharma) is his immediate boss. Gopal supervises Subodh Mehra (Sanjay Mishra), who frequently argues over small matters.

A twist in the story

One day while returning from his office, Gopal witnesses some goons teasing a pretty girl, Meera (Celina Jaitley). Gopal fights with them and compel them to flee.

Concurrently their respective cars break down, and they spend the whole night in a yacht belonging to one of the friends of Goptal.

Relationships and Intrigues Unfold

Gopal switched off his mobile phone due to the suspicious nature of his wife, Ekta (Kareena Kapoor). However, as expected, when Gopal returns in the morning, Ekta doubts him for having an affair and spending the night with him.

Since it is difficult for Gopal to convince his wife by telling the truth, he creates a fictitious friend named Anthony Gonsalves and assures Ekta that he was with Anthony last night. Upon asking for the address of Anthony, Gopal tells a fake address.

Hilarity Ensues: Real vs. Imaginary Gonsalvez

Ekta writes a letter to the pretend Anthony Gonsalvez. But things get really funny when it reveals that a real Anthony Gonsalvez (Vrajesh Hirjee) lives at the imaginary address with his wife, Julie Gonsalves (Rakhee Tandon).

Laxman's Unconventional Solution

Lucky informs Gopal about the letter. Gopal understands that now his trap is going to explode. While thinking about the possible solution, Gopal encounters Laxman Prasad Sharma (Shreyas Talpade), who begs for a job in the company. The name reminds Gopla of his friend Laxman Prasad Sharma (Sharman Joshi in Golmaal: Fun Unlimited). Laxman (Sharman Joshi).

Laxman (Shreyas Talpade) realizes that Gopal is in trouble. When he asks, Gopal informs him about the incident and the fake Anthony Gonsalves.

Laxman proposes to become a fake Anthony Gonsalves and falsely testify that Gopal was with him on the dreaded night. Gopal offers him a job instead of his help.

Accordingly to the plan, Laxman visits Gopal's house pretending to be Anthony Gonsalves and pacifies Ekta. Lucky, who always supports Gopal, is also a part of the plan.

Unveiling the Letter to Anthony Gonsalvez

However, the plan goes awry when the wife of the real Anthony Gonsalves visits Gopal's house after reading the letter written by Gopal. Laxman and Lucky somehow manage the situation and saves Gopal.

Laxman (Shreyas Talpade) is happy to get the job because he now fulfills the conditions to marry his girlfriend. However, Laxman does not know that his girlfriend Meera (Celina Jaitley) is the girl with whom Gopal spent the night.

Accidental Connections and Mysterious Murder

Someone killed Subodh Mehra (Sanjay Mishra) on the night when Gopal helped Meera (Celina Jaitley). Since Gopal often fights with Subodh, he becomes the prime suspect. And what's worse is that Inspector Madhav (Arshad Warsi) is in charge of the case.

Madhav's Investigation and Laxman's Plan

Madhav also discovers that Laxman (Shreyas Talpade) is the real Anthony Gonsalves. After knowing all this, Madhav arrests Gopal for killing Subodh Mehra.

Devastated, Gopal tells the truth about the night. Gopal gives three days time to Gopal to find out the girl. However, Laxman manages to hire Munni (Ashwini Kalsekar), the love interest of a petty criminal Vasooli (Mukesh Tiwari), to falsely testify before the police that Gopal was with him on a dreadful night.

Meera's Identity Revealed

However, the plan goes wrong when Laxman discovers that Meera, his love interest, is the girl who was with Gopal on the awful night. Moreover, Munni goes missing, and his lover Vasooli forcefully takes Meera.

What happens next? Who killed Subodh Mehra and why? Where is Munni? What happens to Gopal and Laxman? Who is the mastermind of the game? Will Lucky get his life partner? Film Golmaal Returns gives replies to all such queries.
