Nishith (Sumanth), a jobless man, lives with his friend, Anand (Satya), who works in a small company.
Nishith has a problem with sleeplessness. He remains awake throughout the night and sleeps in the morning.
It is why he is unable to find a suitable job for himself. Eventually, his doctor suggests finding a night job for him.
One night, Nishith witnesses Hanumant (Shafi), a night reporter, who shoots sensational video footage of a crime scene and sells it to the TV channel that gives maximum money against that footage.
Nishit decides to do the job of a night crime reporter. He meets Rajeev (Priyadarshini Ram), an editor on a TV Channel.
Soon, Nishith manages to steal a Walky-Talky for police personnel. The instrument enables him to know the crime information of the city before anybody else gathers it. Thus, Nishit becomes the first to shoot the crime scene.
Anand also joins Nishith, and they start earning good money. On the other hand, Hanumant (Shafi) starts treating them as his rivals, and enmity emerges between Nishith and Hanumant.
Money changes Nishith's perspective as he becomes a crime-reporting machine, caring only about profits. His heart starts to harden, and he manufactures stories for cash.
In the meantime, Mahati (Anju Kurian) enters his life, and both fall in love with each other. However, Nishith hides his job from Mahati.
Nishith becomes more interested in money than in the stories he covers. He becomes less caring and starts creating fake crime stories just for money.
One night, Nishit gathers about an illegal car race in the city, and he visits there with Anand. In the meantime, an older gentleman (Appaji Ambarisha Darbha) comes in the pictures and starts scolding one of the car owners for the illegal race.
Nishith goes to film an illegal car race, hoping to make money. Eventually, he captures a violent incident involving an older gentleman and a gunshot.
As the car owner begins attacking the older gentleman, Nishith spots a chance to make some money and quickly starts recording the incident using his camera.
Out of nowhere, a man's hand emerges from the car window, holding a revolver, and fires a shot at the older gentleman.
When the car owner starts beating the older gentleman, Nishith sees an opportunity to earn money and starts capturing the incident with his camera.
Suddenly, a man's hand comes out of the car window with a revolver and shoots the older gentleman.
Nishith gives the police (an officer, Sivaji Raja) an edited video, leaving out crucial parts. He later discovers that the victim is Mahati's father. His hidden actions start catching up to him.
Nishith continuously hides things from Mahati. However, the video footage soon drags him into trouble with life-threatening consequences.
What happens next? The film Idam Jagath narrates the rest of the story.
