Jai Santoshi Maa (1975) is a Bollywood Mythological Movie released on 30 May, 1975 (India). The movie was produced by Satram Rohara dnd directed by Vijay Sharma. The movie was written by R. Priyadarshi.
Jai Sanotshi Maa was a very low budget Movie of around 5 Lakhs. But its Blockbuster success paved the way for other low budget movie maker. Jai Santoshi Maa earned Rs. 10 Crores approx. (worldwide) and became the Second Highest Bollywood Movie of 1975 after Sholey that earned Rs. 35 Crore followed by Sanyasi, Deewar and Pratiggya.
C. Arjun composed music for Jai Santoshi Maa and created some mesmerism devotional songs like Karti Hoon Tumhara Vrat Main, Yahan Wahan Jahaan Tahaan, Madad Karo Santoshi Maata and Main To Aarti Utaroon Re sung by Usha Mangeshkar who was nominated for the Filmfare Best Female Playback Singer Award.
Jai Santoshi Maa is a combination of two parallel stories one performed in Devloka and other on Mrityuloka (earth). Goddess Santoshi Maa is daughter of Lord Ganesha and being adored by Satyavati (Kanan Kaushal) on the earth.
With the grace of Maa Santoshi she gets married to Birju (Ashish Kumar) who is the youngest among seven married brothers. Maa Santoshi wants to test the patience of her biggest devotee on earth and she makes some worse circumstances but Satyavati remains the biggest devotee even after she faces many problems in life. Thus, Maa Santoshi becomes the savior of Satavati.
After leaving Birju, satyawati is ill treated by the six wives of Birju’s brothers. They even don’t give her proper food to live. However, during bad times Maa Santoshi rescues Satyavati whenever she needs her.
After sometime Birju returns with lots of money and comes to know the ill treatment faced by Satyavati. He makes a new house for the two with an in-house temple of Maa Santoshi. Satyavati who keeps fast on every Friday, the day belongs to Maa Santoshi, plans to make a big ceremony to show her gratitude towards Maa Santoshi but the 6 jealous wives of Birju’s brothers uses sour food which is completely banned during the Pooja of Maa Santoshi. Now Satyavati has to face the wrath of Maa Santoshi.
