Suresh Triveni is the director of Jalsa and his 2nd Bollywood directorial. He earlier directed Vidya Balan for Tumhari Sulu (2017).

Suresh Triveni is one of the Writers and Producers of Jalsa too. Prajwal Chandrashekar and Suresh Triveni have written the Screenplay of Jalsa.

Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Vikram Malhotra, and Suresh Triveni are the producers of Jalsa. Saurabh Goswami is the Cinematographer of Jalsa.

Gaurav Chatterji has composed original music and score. However, there is no song in Jalsa.

Cast

Vidya Balan and Shefali Shah have played lead roles in Jalsa. Rohini Hattangadi, and Iqbal Khan, and Shrikant Yadav have played prominent roles in Jalsa. Trushant Ingle and Ghanshyam Lalsa have played supporting roles.

Movie Plot

Jalsa depicts the story of two women from the opposite ends of society. Vidya Balan is a Journalist, and Shefali Shah is a cook. They struggle in their life and cross paths with themselves.

These two women collied through a life-turning altering accident. However, both have different attitudes toward handling their bad experiences. While one seeks redemption, the other nurtures a vengeful hatred.

Jalsa Full Story

Maya Menon (Vidya Balan) is a renowned TV Journalist. She gets separated from her husband Anand (Manav Kaul) and lives with her Special Child Ayush (Surya Kasibhatla). Rukmini (Rohini Hattangadi) is the Granny of Ayush who also lives with them.

Rukhsana (Shefali Shah) is the cook of Maya. Rukhasana also takes care of Ayush very well. Rukhsana lives happily with her husband, a son Imad (Shafeen Patel), and a college-going daughter Alia (Kashish Rizwan).

One busiest and tiresome day, Maya asks Ruksana to stay at her home because she will be late. Rukhsana asks her children to visit Maya's home for the night stay. Imad agrees and visits Maya's house. On the other hand, Alia refuses to come on the pretext that she has to study a lot and she would not be able to concentrate on her study in the air-conditioned atmosphere.

However, Alia panned going out with his friend Alam (Sahil Brown). She wants Alam to make her video on the stairs of a foot-over bridge. Alia wants the video to be posted on Social Media to get more followers.

During the video shoot, Alam becomes cozy with Alia. He tries to kiss her against her will. Alia runs down towards the main road. Alam follows him with the request to stop.

On the other hand, Maya is coming back from her office. She is driving the car herself because her driver is on leave. She is tired and feeling sleepy.

While driving the car, suddenly his eyes catch on, and at the same time, delirious Aaliya comes on the road.

Aaliya gets hit hard by Maya's car, and she starts mourning while lying on the road in an injured condition.

Maya gets nervous seeing all this. She does not understand what she should do. Eventually, Maya leaves Aaliya in agony and leaves from there.

The next day Maya comes to know that the girl she hit last night is the daughter of her cook Rukhsana. Maya tells the entire episode to  Amar (Iqbal Khan), her boss, who is also very close to her.

Maya wants to tell the truth to the police. However, Amar stops Maya to protect her and the image of his TV channel. Maya finally agrees with Amar.

Aliya gets hospitalized in a big private hospital, and Maya bears all the expenditures. However, a new trainee reporter Rohini (Vidhatri Bandi), who works under Amar, gets the lead about the crime and wants to cover the story.

What happens next is what Jalsa is all about.
