JNU-Jahangir National University is an Indian Hindi-language ( Drama ) film released in cinemas on 21 June 2024.
The Hindi-language film "JNU-Jahangir National University" received its CBFC certificate (No. DIL/3/5/2024-DEL) on 12 June 2024, with an initial runtime of 150 Minutes and 10 Seconds , accompanied by a A (Adult Only) rating. In a notable update, a revised certificate was issued on 13 June 2024, reflecting a slight reduction in runtime to 152 Minutes and 13 Seconds and a change in rating to A (Adult Only).
JNU depicts the story of a small-towner, Sourabh Sharma, who is now a student of JNU. He gets restless with the various activities of left-wing students who are anti-national and raises his voice against them.
Sourabh finds Akhilesh Pathak (Baba) as his charioteer, who guides him on the path of opposing leftist domination in JNU. On this path, Sourabh finds Richa as his life partner-cum-supporting force.
Where the left gang remains untouched, they are challenged heavily by Sourabh and the right wing, which makes them restless as Sourabh enters the politics of JNU by winning one of their on-holding elections, creating a history in JNU.
Holding the post of one of the counsellors, he opposes the anti-national agenda of leftists and supports the work in favour of students of JNU, which makes him gain popularity among the students.
Sourabh, with the support of Baba, keeps opposing all their anti-national protests and the activity of love jihad happening in the institute. In 2014, Sourabh broke the ruling left-wing party's domination to win the election for the position of joint secretary in the university, despite the support of the university administration.
In 2019, the government announced the ruling of Arushi Ghosh as the president of the JNU student union, which included a proposal to raise the fees of JNU students. The proposal was opposed by the left-wing students, and as a result, those who supported the fee hike were severely beaten. This included ABVP students who were trying to protect the supporters of the proposal. Later, one night in JNU, ABVP students came together and acted violently against the left-wing students, and this was supported by local bodies.
