Kathal [meaning-Jackfruit] is a Hindi (Bollywood) Comedy, Drama film. It is a Netflix original film released directly on the OTT platform, Netflix on 19 May 2023.

Yashowardhan Mishra has also written Kathal with National Award Winner Ashok Mishra.

Netflix, Ekta Kapoor, and Guneet Monga have jointly produced Kathal.

Cast

Sanya Malhotra has played a lead role in the film. She has played a young police officer who sets out to prove herself.

Kathal also stars Anant Joshi, best known for playing the titular role of Bhaskar Tripathi in the ALTBalaji web series Virgin Bhasskar.

Movie Plot

Mahima (Sanya Malhotra) belongs to a lower caste and becomes a police constable. She falls in love with her fellow constable Saurabh (Anant Joshi), who belongs to an upper caste, but he loves Mahima too.

Mahima receives a promotion, whereas her love interest remains a constable. They both work in the same police station in Mathura.

Hilarious twist

The local MLA (Vijay Raaz) finds that two big sizes, Uncle Hong bread Jackfruits (Kathal), are missing from the tree. It appears bizarre case for the police officers. However, due to political pressure, the theft case is handed over to Mahima, and she starts the investigation with the help of her assistant Kunti (Neha Saraf) and some other police officer.

Mahima discovers that the gardener of the local MLA is missing. She learns that the MLA fired him from his job three days before. Gardner becomes the prime suspect. However, he visits the police station to report his missing adolescence daughter.

What happens is the rest of the story of Kathal.
