Lootcase (2020) is a Hindi Bollywood Comedy Movie released on 31 july 2020.  Fox Star Studios has produced the movie whereas Rajesh Krishnan has directed the movie in addition to write the screenplay along with Kapil Sawant. 

Earlier the movie was scheduled to be released in 2019 however the movies continuous to be delayed and rescheduled to be released on 10 April 2020. However, due to ongoing Corona epidemics the movie could not be released and the makers have finally decided to release the movie on OTT Platform (Disney + Hotstar) on 31 July 2020

The movie stars Kunal Khemu, Rasika Dugal, Gajrao Rao, Vijay Raaz and Ranvir Shorey in the pivotal roles.  Aryan Prajapati, Shashi Ranjan, Sumit Nujhawan, Nilesh Dwekar, Aakash Dabhade, Vijay Nikam, Manuj Sharma, Pritam Jaiswal and Sada Yadav played supporting roles in the movie.

Lootcase (20200 Movie Plot

The story of Lootcase (2020) is a combination of three parallel stories. MLA Patil (Gajrao Rao), ganster Bala Rathore (Vijay Raaz) and Nandan Kumar (Kunal Khemu).

MLA Patil and Bala Rathore are of opposite group. Bala wants to kill Omar (Sumit Nujhawan) who works for MLA Patil.

Nandand Kumar (Kunal Khemu) is a lower middle class man lives miserably with his wife Lata (Rasika Dugal) and a school going son Ayush (Aryan Prapati). Nandan works in a Press and is an honest hard worker who wins Employee of the Year Award every year. Being such an honest person he has to often work in night shifts too. 

Patil has to deliver Rs. 10 Cr and an important file containing secretes of land grabbing to a Minister named Tripathi. Patil assigns the job to his men Omar (Sumit Nujhawan) and Abdul (Shashi Ranjan) and direct them to handover a suitcase containing Rs. 10 Crores and that important file hiding the secrets of land grabbing issues. 

Bala (Vijay Raaz) comes to know about the money and sends his man Jameel and some other goons to loot the suitcase. Bala and Patil groups make collide and Jameel is shot dead in the shootout. Bala’s goon grabs the suitcase but hides the same when a police vans comes. 

In a parallel track, Nandan (Kunal Khemu) is returning home after completing his night duty. He stops for urinating at a deserted place where people used to through garbage. Nandan finds the bag and witnesses lots of money. The night is silent and there is no one around. Nandan then decides to take the bag. He taken an auto reaches home. 

Nanand hides the bag in his neighbor’s house who is out of town for 15 days and the keys are with Nandan. He starts spending small amount of money for the recreational purpose with his family. 

Bala comes to know that the suitcase also contains a secret files and now bboth Patil and Bala group want the suitcase back. Patil assigns Police Inspector Madhav Kolte (Ranvir Shorey) to handle the case unofficially. Kolte further asks an informer to find out about the money. 

Police investigation comes to nothing as the place where shootout is taken places does not have any CCTv camera. However, Kolte starts investigating camera in the radius of 6 kilometers and finally gets footage of Nandan riding on the auto-rickshaw with the suitcase.

Now the situation is that Kolte is after Nandan and the goons of Bala (Vijay Raaz) are after Kolte and are keeping a close eye upon him. Eventually Kolte finds address of Nandan and threats him to hand over the entire money. Nandan returned the money available at his home and rest of the money is in his office.

Kolte grabs the suitcase, place it in his car and brings Nandan to his office for taking rest of the money. Kolte waits in the car and Nandan goes inside the office where he finds his boss taking alcohol alone. Nandan is now helpless to take out his money. In the meantime Kolte is attacked by the goons of Bala to take over the suitcase. Kolte shots one of them, clicks the dead man’s photo and runs away alone in his car with the suitcase inside.

Kolte comes to know about the secret file and he now wants to double cross MLA Patil. On the other hand Bala now thinks that Kolte would show the picture of dead man and MLA Patil would come to know about the involvement of Bala. Hence, Bala himself reaches to MLA Patil and informs that Kolte has grabbed the suitcase.

MLA Patil calls Kolte and asks about the suitcase. Kolte does not tell him that the suitcase is with him. Now the situation gets worse since Patil Sends his goon to kill Kolte and to take over the suitcase and the file. Bala also sends his goons to grab the suitcase and the file. Meanwhile, Nandan manages to take out the hidden money from his office and reaches at the address given by Kolte without knowing that Kolte would try to kill him after getting the money.

Movie Review

Script and Direction

Rajesh Krishnan helmed both section of the movie made his directorial debut for bollywood. He has done a recommendable job. Script is nicely written from the angle of a common man. A number of characters are there but the writer has shown his command over his writing and gives every character a particular value. That is why even a small character is remains in mind of the audience after watching the movie.

The movie is a comedy drama and it is full of comedy and drama. The comedy is most of the time situational and not forced. This is the plus point of the writer and director. 

The entire movie runs with a steady pace and does not make us bore at any place. Every character is beautifully written so that their connection with each other can be easily established by a common man who watches movie for the purpose of entertainment only without giving a damn thought over creativity of the director. 

Acting

This is the strongest point of the movie. Every character has done so well as such they are actually doing all these.  Kunal Khemu as Nandan Kumar is extraordinary good. As a lower middle class man who wants to live a happy live with his wife and son. He has played his character with ease and proves his dazzling acting skills.

Rasika Dugal as a wife of a middle class man depicts the real expressions of a typical housewife. She does her part beautifully.  Aryan Prajapati as Ayush, son of Nandan, gets a small role but he also has done a good job.

Now, the three big bulls; Ranvir Shorey, Vijay Raaz and Gajrao Rao. Extremely talented actors have added a new feather to their wings. Their talent needs no remarks. Vijay Raaj’s unique style of dialogue delivery impress the audience and this time he link up everything with animals because he watches the Nat Jeo tv channel  and asks his goons too to watch the same channel.

Gajraj’s exclusive way threatening to the person and then covers it up with the gig is remarkable. Ranvir Shorey as a greedy cop has done justice to his role. 

Songs have not been stuffed in the movie that makes it healthier to watch it till the end. There are three songs in the movie out of which two songs appear in the background and lead the story ahead.

In short the movie is a complete package of healthy entertainment and can be watched with your entire family.
