Diana Irani (Manisha Koirala) belongs to Parsi religion and comes from South Bombay. She runs her family Irani Café named Rustom. She believes in carry on the legacy of her family. 

Hence, she wants his son Rumi Irani (Prit Kamami) to keep on the legacy of family alive by taking over charge of the café. However, Rumi has some big dreams and wants to be a famous actor in Bollywood. 

On one hand, Diana is ready to give her everything to Rumi if he gets ready to take over the charge of café; on the other hand, Rumi is thinking of selling the café to make his bollywood career.

Diana declares not to give even a single penny for Rumi’s Bollywood career. This makes a clash between a mother and son. However, Rumi is adamant to become a Bollywood actor even after resistance from his close friends and relavtives for selling the café.
