Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif starrer Namste London (2007) is also inspired by Purab Aur Paschim (1970).

Purab Aur Paschim (1970) Movie Plot: After the death of her Freedom Fighter husband Ganga (Kamini Kaushal) takes care the proper growth of his son Bharat who goes to London for higher studies and meets Mr. Sharma, an old friend of his late father and follows Indian custom and traditions even in London. However, on the contrary his wife Reeta (Shammi) and daughter Preeti (Saira Banu) have adopted complete western styles.
Preeti even does not know about the Indian culture and traditions and she smokes, drinks, wears minis and has no values for Indian traditions. But Bharat makes him understand the traditional values especially in India. The fall in love and decides to marry but only if Bharat stays in London. However, Bharat wants to return India with Preeti with him.
