Raman Raghav 2.0 (2016) [ Hindi Movie ]

Raman Raghav 2.0 [released internationally as Psycho Raman] is a Psychological Thriller that initially premiered at the Directors' Fortnight section at the 69th Cannes Film Festival on 16 May 2016.

The film was also shown at the Sydney Film Festival, the Singapore International Film Festival, the Fantasia International Film Festival, the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival, and the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne.

Raman Raghav 2.0 was released in India on 24 June 2016.

Cast & Crew

Anurag Kashyap is the Director and one of the Producers of Raman Raghav 2.0. The other producers are Vikramaditya Motwane, Vikas Bahl, and Madhu Mantena.

Ram Sampath is the Music Director, Jay Oza is the Cinematographer, and Aarti Bajaj is the Film Editor of Raman Raghav 2.0.

Cast

Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Vicky Kaushal, and debutante Sobhit Dhulipala play pivotal roles in Raman Raghav 2.0.

Movie Plot 

Raman Raghav 2.0 takes inspiration from a kill Raman Raghav, who operated in Mumbai during the 1960s. The film depicts in eight chapters.

Chapter 1

Raghavan works as an Assistant Police Commissioner. He is a drug addict and a corrupt cop.

Raghavan visits a Mumbai drug dealer to purchase drugs. However, someone kills the dealer before Raghavan reaches there. Raghavan starts an investigation and receives a hammer, followed by an anonymous phone call the next day.

Chapter 2

The story moves to 2015 now. Ramanna (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) surrenders to the police and confesses to killing nine people.

Police detain Ramanna and beat him to know the truth, but Ramanna manages to escape from custody with the help of a group of boys nearby.

Chapter 3

Ramanna seeks food from his sister Lakshmi (Amruta Subhash). In the meantime, Ramanna argues with his Brother-in-Law (Ashok Lokhande) and leaves home. He returns and kills his Sister, Brother-in-Law, and their son.

While investigating the case, Raghavan finds a picture of Ramanna with Lakshmi. Raghavan realizes that Ramanna is involved in the case.

Chapter 4

Raghavan is in a relationship with Smrutika Naidu alias Simi (Sobhita Dhulipala), but he is an abusive partner: he beats her and has forced her to have three abortions.

Ramanna surveils Raghavan and Simi, suggesting a link exists between the cop and the killer. Ramanna stalks and kills Simi's maid and her husband.

Chapter 5

Police Somehow catch Ramanna with the help of an onlooker. However, Ramanna escapes from custody again and kills the man who aided his capture.

Chapter 6

That evening Raghavan picks up a woman named Ankita (Anuschka Sawhney)  at a nightclub and brings her to Simi's house.

Due to drug use, Raghavan can not perform sexual intercourse with Ankita, who makes a mockery of Raghavan.

In return, Raghav beats Anita and searches the entire house for the stash of drugs he used to keep at Simi's home. Since he does not find the drugs, Raghavan confronts Simi.

Simi asks him to leave her home with Ankita. Furious Raghavan strikes Simi, which kills her instantly.

Chapter 7

Raghavan then clears away incriminating evidence and arranges the scene to implicate Ramanna in the murder. He retrieves a tyre iron similar to Ramanna's favored murder weapon and smashes Simi's head with it. In the meantime, Ankita escapes.

Chapter 8

The next day Ramanna surrenders to Raghavan and offers to accept the charge for Simi's murder, but only if Raghavan will kill the eyewitness, Ankita.
