Roti Kapda Aur Makaan (1974) is a Bollywood Drama Movie released on 18 October, 1974 (India). The movie was written, produced and directed by Actor Director Manoj Kumar who won the Best Director Award in the 22nd Filmfare Awards held in 1975. He was also nominated for Best Film and, Best Actor and Best Story for this movie. The movie was later remade in Telugu as Jeevana Poratam (1986).
Roti Kapda Aur Makaan became Blockbuster on Box Office by earning Rs. 10.5 Crores approximately (Worldwide) and also became the Highest Grossing Bollywood Movie of 1974 followed by Chor Machaye Shor, Dost, Prem Nagar and Bidaai.

Bharat (Manoj Kumar) inspite of being graduated does not get a suitable job to run his family including his retired father (Krishan Dhawan), sister Champa (Meena T), two college going brothers namely Vijay (Amitab Bachchan) and Deepak (Dheeraj Kumar). Sheetal (Zeenat Aman), love interest of Bharat, makes him more frustrated as she does not want to leave in poverty. Sheetal finds a job of Secretary to a big Businessman Mohan Babu (Shashi Kapoor) and attracted towards him being very rich.
To cope up the family situation Vijay enters in the crime world but leaves the same after Bharat convince him the consequences of the same. Vijay also depart to join the army. Soon Bharat finds a job as a Builder by soon loses the same as the government takes over the land and his destiny remains the same. His father, who was his only source of motivation, also passes away and devastated Bharat burn his degree in his funeral. Eventually, Bharat has to enter in the crime world to fulfill the minimum requirement of his family i.e. Roti Kapda Aur Makaan (Food, Clothing and Shelter).
