Shaakuntalam is a PAN India Telugu-language Fantasy, Mythological, and Romance Drama film scheduled to be released on 4 November 2022. The release date got postponed, and the film was scheduled to be released on 10 February 2023. The release date was postponed again, and the film was re-scheduled to be released on 17 February 2023. The release was postponed one more time and was finally released on 14 April 2023 in Cinemas

The original language of the film is Telugu. The film is available in the dubbed version of Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada.

Gunasekhar, who previously directed Rudhramadevi (2015), is the Writer-Director of Shaakuntalam. Neelima Guna is the Producer, Sekhar V. Joseph is the Cinematographer, Prawin Pudi is the Film Editor, and Mani Sharma is the Music Director of Shaakuntalam.

Cast

Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Dev Mohan play the lead roles. Allu Arha, six years daughter of actor Allu Arjun, plays a pivotal role in Shaakuntalam.

Aditi Balan, Ananya Nagalla, Gautami, Kabir Bedi, Madhoo, Malhottra Shivam, Mohan Babu, Prakash Raj, and  Varshini Sounderajan play supporting roles in Shaakuntalam.

Movie Plot

Shaakuntalam takes inpiration from the Play Shakuntala by Kalidasa. Samantha Ruth Prabhu portrays the titular character of Shakuntala, and Dev Mohan portrays Dushyanta, the King of the Puru Dynasty.
