Shivaji Surathkal: The Case of Ranagiri Rahasya was also the first Kannada film that grossed over 75 Crore INR at the Worldwide Box Office (65 Crore in India and 10 Crore overseas).

Movie Plot
In the 2020 film Shivaji Surathkal: The Case of Ranagiri Rahasya, Shivaji Surathkal (Ramesh Aravind) solved the infamous Ranagiri murder case. Five years pass, and Shivaji is now a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), posted in Surathkal.
Shivaji's wife, Janani, has left him ten years before, but he has never fully recovered from her loss. Shivaji now lives with his ten years old daughter, baby Aardhya (Aaradhya N. Chandra), a bright and cheerful child who loves her father very much. She is also very supportive of his work as a police officer.
Shivaji and Aaradhya are very close and rely on each other for support. Aaradhya is a source of strength for Shivaji, and she helps him to keep going even when things are tough.
A murder mystery
In a small apartment, Anjali (Radhika Narayan) is found dead in her apartment. The killer has brutally murdered her, and there is no sign of forced entry.
The police team receives the murder information the next day and starts an investigation under the leadership of Shivaji Surathkal, Deputy Superintendent of Police.
The killer is a master of disguise and can blend in with the crowd. The killer also seems very intelligent and is always one step ahead of the police. Shivaji and his team are under a lot of pressure to catch the killer before he strikes again.
Shivaji learns that the victim is a kind-hearted young girl with no enemies. The search of the victim's apartment turns up nothing useful. There are no fingerprints, no DNA evidence, and no witnesses.
A twist
Shivaji soon discovers that Anjali is not the only victim. The killer has done a series of similar murders in Surathkal and still roaming free. The pressure is mounting on Shivaji and his team. The killer strikes again, but the police are no closer to catching him.
Shivaji and his team are working around the clock to catch the killer under the immense pressure of seniors and the public. They are exhausted, but they are determined to find him.
A breakthrough
Shivaji has a breakthrough in the case. He discovers that the killer has left a clue at the crime scene. The clue is a small piece of paper with a symbol on it.
Shivaji takes the symbol to a professor of Sanskrit. The professor identifies the symbol. It is a symbol from Hindu mythology. The symbol represents a demon called Maayavi, a trickster demon who is known for his ability to change his appearance. Shivaji realizes that the killer is using the symbol of Maayavi as a calling card. He is trying to taunt the police.
