Vijay (Dharmendra) and Pranlal (Prem Chopra) are affluent friends. Vijay has a sister Shobha (Dimple Kapadia), and Pranlal has a son Amar (Sumeet Saigal). Vijay proposes the marriage of Shoba and Amar, which Pranlal accepts happily.
In the meantime, Vijay comes to know that Pranlal is doing the business of drugs and smuggling. Vijay asks Pranlal to leave his criminal game, but Pranlal refuses to leave his illegal activities. Thus, Vijay decides to cancel the wedding.
Amar knowing the spurious activities of his father kills himself. Humiliated and angered, Pranlal vows to avenge the death of his son.
Time passes, and Shobha meets an unemployed young man Jackie (Jackie Shroff). She arranges a job for Jackie and gradually develops feelings for him, and finally decides to marry Jackie.
Vijay (Dharmendra) opposes the marriage initially due to the difference in financial status, but in the end, gives up before the adamant couple Shobha and Jackie, and soon both are married.
After the marriage, Jackie starts showing his true colors and becomes very abusive. Soon Shobha finds a terrible truth behind Jackie's hatred that will change the life of Shobha (Dimple Kapadia) and his brother Vijay 9Dharmendra).
