The Immortal Ashwatthama is an upcoming Bollywood Fantasy Adventure film expected to be released 2023. However, the film has been shelved in May 2023 due to heavy loss of around 30 Crores in preproduction.
Aditya Dhar has written and directed the film. Vicky Kaushal has played lead role in the film. This is the 2nd directorial venture and that is too with Vicky Kaushal after Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019).
Ashwatthama is a Superhero Fantasy film where Vicky Kaushal is portraying the titular character. Ronnie Screwvala has produced the film. The film depicts VFX at large level.
Movie Plot
Ashwatthama was a character of epic saga Mahabharata and the Son of Guru Dronacharya. Ashwatthama fought in the battle of Kurushetra for Kauravas and against the Pandavas.
Production
Aditya Dhar worked hard and tirelessly on his dream project, The Immortal Ashwatthama, since its announcement in 2019.
The movie was initially announced with Vicky Kaushal and Sara Ali Khan as the lead actors. Ronnie Screwvala was the producer of it.
The project got delayed due to Corona pandemic. When the situation came under control, Samantha Ruth Prabhu replaced Sara Ali Khan.
Later Jio Studio entered as a producer and wished for a sellable star for such a big-budget movie. Jr. NTR. Yash and Ranveer Singh became the choice of the makers. However, no actor could be finalized for the film The Immortal Ashwatthama.
Thus Jio decided to shelve the film, causing a loss of approximately 30 crores.
