Mr Oswal (Om Shivpuri) is a rich and strict man who lives with his wife (Sulochana) and two sons, Jayant (Girish Karnad) and Ajay (Vijayendra Ghatge). Jayant falls in love with Chandra (Sharmila Tagore), but Mr Oswal rejects her and chooses another girl (Bindu) for him.
Ajay feels upset by this, runs away with his love, Seema (Jasmin), the daughter of a teacher (Satyen Kappu), and gets married. Ajay starts driving
One night, Ajay sees Seema with a man. He misunderstands the situation, accuses her of cheating, and divorces her. Seema feels deeply hurt.
