Let No Man Write My Epitaph is a 1960 English Crime and Social Problem film released in cinemas in October 1960. .
Nick Romano (James Darren) grows up in deep poverty in the slums. His mother, Nellie (Shelley Winters), works as a waitress in a rough saloon, and his gangster father is already dead. Life is hard, and Nick learns to survive on the streets.
Two people quietly look out for him. One is the Judge (Burl Ives), a former jurist who drinks too much and secretly loves Nellie. The other is Big Flora (Ella Fitzgerald), a strong and caring singer.
Nick falls in love with a lawyer’s daughter (Jean Seberg), hoping for a better future. But trouble returns when a drug dealer named Louis Ramponi (Ricardo Montalban) pulls Nellie into addiction. Nick tries to kill Ramponi but fails. In the end, the Judge takes matters into his own hands and kills the criminal, while Nellie begins treatment to fight her addiction, and Nick gets another chance at love.
