Maya Machhendra (1960) is a Bollywood Hindi Movie based on the life of Matsyendranath. He is also known as Machindranath one of the eighty-four Maha Siddha, tantric yogic master and founder of Nath lineage.
Baba Gorakhnath was one of the famous disciples of Machindranath. Maya Machhendra (1960) tells the story of Machindranath and Baba Gorakhnath.
The movie plot was used in various movies of the same name. The first version of the movie released in 1932 as Maya Machhindra in which Govindrao Tembe and Durga Khote played the lead role.
Another version appeared in 1939 when it was made in Tamil as Maya Machindra. M.K. Radha played the character of Machindranath whereas M.R. Krishnamurthi played Gorakhnath.
The movie was made in Telugu as Maya Machhindra (1945) directed by P. Pullaiah. Thereafter, it was reamde in Telugu again in the year 1975 as Maya Maschindra. N.T. Ramao Rao played the lead role in the movie and Babubhai Mistry directed the same.
Maya Machchendra made in Hindi in 1960. Trilok Kapoor and Nirupa Roy played the lead roles in the movie. Thereafter, another hindi version of the movie came in 1975 in which Srinath Tripathi and Abhi Bhattacharya played the lead roles.
The movie is remade in Gujrati as Allakh Niranjan (1981). Jayant K. Bhatt directed the film. Rita Bhaduri, Jayshree Gadkar Jaishree T, Manhar Desai, Shrikant Jani and Ramesh Mehta played the pivotal roles in the movie.
Nirupa Roy, Manhar Desai, Ajit and Raj Kumar played the lead roles. Priyadarshini, Paul Sharma, Vivek, Babu Raje, Ratnamala, Indira Bansal, Master Levi, Uma Dutt, Shri Bhagwan , J. N. Sinha, Poona Kapoor, Geeta, Ratan, Rehana, Sundari, Paro Julian, Korega and Jadav played the supporting roles in the film. Dancer duo Jivankala-Nazar also appeared in the movie.
Vishwanath Pande wrote the Story and Screenplay of Maya Machhendra (1960). C.K. Mast wrote the dialogues for the film.
