Sets in the backdrop of the Indian legal system, the film Neru narrates a legal and emotional court battle that unfolds the tale of Sara (Anaswara Rajan), a blind sculpture. She seeks justice after suffering trauma. She contends with the legal system and her resilience to find a resolution.
Sara (Anaswara Rajan) is visually impaired, but she is a skilled sculpture artist like his stepfather, Mohammed (Jagadish).
Michael (Sankar Induchoodan) sexually assaults Sara, and there is no witness for the crime. However, Sara makes a clay sculpture of Michael, and her father, Mohammed, reports the case to the police.
The Circle Inspector Paul Varghese (K B Ganesh Kumar) keeps sympathy towards Sara and wants justice for her. However, he soon learns that the public prosecutor is loyal to the defense lawyer, Rajasekhararan.
The hunt for an expert and loyal lawyer stops at Vijayamohan (Mohanlal), who has abandoned court practice after a misfortuned incident with him. Somehow, Vijaymohan agrees to fight the case to provide justice to Sara.
The rest of the film is a courtroom drama that narrates how Sara and Vijaymohan try to prove that Michael is the culprit.
