Acting: Govinda was awarded Star Screen Award Special Jury Award for his role in the movie as ‘performer of the decade. His comedy timing is brilliant and perhaps no other mainstream actor can hold his hand in this regard.
Kadar Khan is in his typical comic style looks cool. Though we have already seen him repeating his character in many such movies, yet he gives a fresh look every time he repeats his character.
Karisma Kapoor in her lively bubbly character appears very good. While dancing with Govinda she perfectly matches with him which is significant. Harish and Kanchan in supporting roles are also good.
Shakti Kapoor, Sadashiv Amrapurkar and Kulbhushan Kharbanda are all in the comic roles which increases the elegance of the movie.
Script and Screenplay: Story of Coolie No. 1 (1995) was written by Amma Creations whereas Screenplay was written by Rui Jaffery and Kader Khan who is famous for his cheeky dialogues. The script is written for the nineties comedy and that is especially by Govinda who has a large fan following at that point of time.
Direction: David Dhawan is like Mr. Perfectionist as far as Comedy Movies are concerned and when he comes up with Govinda his work becomes much easier. David Dhaawan has utilized full potential of Govinda and it is one of his best comic movies with David Dhawan who makes movies full of Filmy Masala and entertainment not only for single screen theaters but also for multiplex audience also. David has fully justified his directorial Genre and done a good job. Coolie No. 1 is a sheer magic of Govinda and Kader Khan. But don’t find logic in the movie.
