Bulbul - Hindi Film 2020

Bulbul is an Indian Hindi -language ( Horror and Thriller ) film released directly on the OTT platform Netflix on 24 June 2020.

Anvita Dutt has made her bollywood directorial debut with this movie. She has also written the screenplay for the movie.

Bulbul is produced by Karnesh Sharma, brother of Anushka Sharma under the their own production house namely Anushka Sharma Production House. Amit Trivedi has composed background music for the film.

Rahul Bose has played a double role in the film. Tripti Dimri has played the female lead and the central character of the movie "Bulbul". Parambrata Chakraborty, Avinash Tiwari and Paoli Dam played the key roles in the movie.

Ruchi Mahajan, Varun Buddhadev, Hemant Bisht and Veera Kapoor Ea, who made her Bollywood Debut as an actress; played supporting roles in the movie.

Bulbul (2020) Movie Plot

"Bulblul" is story set in Bengal way back in early 20th Century when child marriage was not a big issue. "Bulbul" seems inspired by the Bengali Movie Kadambari (2015) that depicts the relationship between Rabindranath Tagore and his Sister-in-Law (wife of elder brother) in a heart touching way.

However, Bulbul is amalgamated with some additional flavor of horror and suspense, which was completing missing in Kadambari (2015).

Kadambari married to Jyotirindranath Tagoore, elder brother of Rabindranath Tagorewho who was merely 7 years old at that time. As the time goes Rabindranath Tagore and Kadambari becomes playmate and close friend.

Rabindranath Tagore married on 9 December 1983 and Kadambari committed suicide on 21 April 1984 just after four months of his marriage. Bulbul also depicts a relationship of a girl, married at a younger age, with his Brother-in-Law (younger brother of husband). 

Bulbul (2020) Full Story

Bulbul (Tripti Dimri) grows young playing with her coeval companion-cum-friend Satya (Avinash Tiwari) and started liking him but does not reveal it to Satya.

Indraneel (Rahul Bose) is a Zamindar (landlord under British rule) and elder brother of Satya. He lives with his moron younger brother Mahendra (Rahul Bose in double role) and his wife Binodini (Paoli Dam). 

Binodini informs Indraneel about the closeness of Bulbul and Satya. Being a powerful Zamindar he  treats  Bulbul like his own property and wants to marry her. There is a big age difference between Bulbul and Indraneel yet their marriage is finalized. 

Indraneel gets married to Bulbul after sending Satya abroad for study so that he may not come closer to Bulbul. However, Bulbul has already made a picture of Satya in her heart and she does not like anybody else but Satya.

One day drunken Indraneel beats Bulbul very badly and leaves house after leaving Bulbul to die. Mahendra finds a good opportunity and rapes the half-dead Bulbul. However, Dr. Sudeep (Parambrata Chakraborty), a young village doctor, starts Bulbul’s treatment and brings her in a stable condition. 

Bulbul recovered from her injuries and takes over the charge of the house when Indraneel does not return for long time. In the meantime, Mahendra is killed in suspicious circumstances and Bindodini believes that the Chudail (witch) has done it.

After some time Satya returns India but everything has changed now. Bulbul seems happy to see Satya back however, the time and circumstances has made Bulbul a completely changed woman. 

A series of murders start in the village where only males are becoming target. Everyone believe it is the Chudail who would kill every men in the village. 

London returns Satya does not believe in nonsense. He starts investigation with the help of local police. He also comes closer to Bulbul but becomes jealous when he witnesses her closeness with Dr. Sudeep. Satya then takes a decision to send Bulbul back to his parental house. But would it be beneficial for anybody? Or would it makes a check over the murders in the village?
