Jyoti Bane Jwala (meaning: A flame becomes a conflagration) is a Hindi Action film released on 6 June 1980. Jyoti Bane Jwala is a remake of the Telugu film Katakataala Rudraiah (1978).

Suraj (Jeetendra) and Malti (Waheeda Rehman) love each other. Their respective fathers are not on good terms, but they nod for the marriage of the love birds. However, Suraj meets with a road accident and dies.
Malti is pregnant before marriage, and Dr. Bose (Ashok Kumar) informs Charandas (Om Shivpuri), the father of Malti, accordingly. Charandas decides to leave the city with his daughter to protect his nobility.
After some time, Malti gives birth to a baby boy and becomes unconscious. However, Charandas wants his daughter to marry again and does not want the child in their life. He gives money to the nurse to announce the death of the newly born child.
Ram Singh (Satyen Kapoor), the Driver of a gold smuggler Dharmdas (Kader Khan), is on the run from the police because he has a bag full of gold in his car.
Ram Singh hides the bag full of gold in a dustbin and somehow manages to escape from the police. In the meantime, Charandas (Om Shivpuri) comes there with the newly born baby and throws the boy in the same dustbin.
When Ram Singh returns with his boss Dharmdas (Kader Khan), he finds the newly born boy and brings him to his home. Ram Singh and his wife Parvati (Seema Deo) nourish him as their son and call him Jyoti. Soon they are blessed with a daughter Asha.
After a few years, the adolescent Jyoti beats a boy because he teases him by calling him a dustbin. The boy dies, and Jyoti flees from there.
The grown-up Jyoti (Jeetendra in a dual role) has become Jwala, a notorious criminal. He also works for Dharmdas (Kader Khan), now known as Black Boss.
Malti (Waheeda Rehman) is married to a senior police officer O. P. Bakshi (Shreeram Lagoo). They have a grown-up son Arjun Bakshi (Vinod Mehra), who works as a police inspector and is after Jwala.
Asha (Sarika) lives with her ailing mother (Seema Deo) and becomes a pickpocket for fulfilling the day-to-day requirement. Asha meets Anu (Moushumi Chatterjee), another pickpocket, and they join hands. Asha meets Arjun, and they fall in love.
Jwala gets arrested and sees his foster father, Ram Singh (Satyen Kapoor), inside the jail. Ram Singh informs that Dharmdas (Kader Khan) has raped his wife and framed him with false charges. Jwala vows to take revenge on Dharmdas.
The next day, Jwala plans to flee from jail with his father, Ram Singh. The police follow them and shoot Ram Singh dead. The Jailer, Mr. Berde (Iftikhar), also shoots Jwala, but Jwala manages to flee.
Anu sees the injured Jwala and brings him to her home. Asha sees a burn mark and recognizes Jwala as her lost brother Jyoti. Jwala meets his mothers too, but unfortunately, she dies.
Jwala learns that Black Boss and Dharmdas are the same person and takes his revenge by killing him. However, a man witnesses the murder of Dharmdas and becomes the police witness. Jwala kills the witness and makes him look like Jwala. Now Jwala is dead to the police.
Asha (Sarika) loves Inspector Arjun Bakshi (Vinod Mehra). Jwala pretends to be kishore, an NRI, and fixes the marriage of Asha and Arjun. However, the Jailer, Mr. Berde (Iftikhar), doubts that he none other than Jwala. Arjun assures him to find the truth.
