Saina is a Bollywood Sports Biographical film releases on 26 March 2021. Amole Gupte has directed the film. Bushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Sujay Jairaj, and Rashesh Shah have produced the film. The film was earlier scheduled to release in 2020 but postponed due to Corona epidemics.
Parineeti Chopra has portrayed the titular character of Saina Nehwal. Manav Kaul and Ankur Vikal have portrayed Pullella Gopichand and Jeevan Kumar, coaches of Saina. Paresh Rawal has portrayed Harvir Singh Nehwal, father of Saina.
The film is about the life events of famous Indian Badminton player Saina Nehwal.
“Saina” was announced on 26 April 2017. Saina Nehwal revealed the details of the film on her official Twitter account. Sharddha Kapoor opted for the role of Saina and she started the shoot. However, she had to sign out the film due to shootings dates conflicts with the film management.
Thereafter, Parineeta Chopra stepped in the role of Saina and finally completed the film. The makers planned to release the film in 2020 but it could not happen due to the nationwide shut down of cinema halls due to the Corona outbreak.
Parineeta had to take many training sessions to learn to copy the correct style and posture of Saina Nehwal. 12 Badminton courts were created to show different international venues where Saina has played her games.
