Kaagaz 2 is the 2nd installment of the Kaagaz franchise and not a sequel to the 2021 Hindi Biographical Comedy film Kaagaz. Kaagaz 2 is touted to be a remake of 2015 critically acclaimed Mollywood film Nirnaayakam. Malayalam film Nirnayakam is a critically acclaimed film released in June 2015. The film won National Film Award for Best Films Other Social Issues.

Smriti Kalra plays the role of a modern girl and vocalizes her thoughts the right way. Pankaj Tripathi, who played the lead role in Kaagaz (2021), is not a part of Kaagaz 2.

Kaagaz was the story of Bharat Lal Bihari (Pankaj Kapoor), who is considered dead on official papers. Kaagaz depicted a fight of a person against a corrupt system for nineteen years.
