Plot Summary of Hindi Film Rakshak (1996)

Rakshak (1996) is a Bollywood Action Movie released on 29 November 1996 (India). Ashok Honda produced and directed the movie whereas K.S. Ravi wrote the story for Rakshak.

Rakshak stars Sunil Shetty, Karisma Kapoor and Sonali Bendre in pivotal roles. Raveena Tandon makes a special appearance in the song Shehar Ki Ladki.

Raghuvaran, Aruna Irani, Alok Nath, Mushtaq Khan, Dinesh Hingoo, Deepak Shirke, Harish Patel, Arun Bakshi, Ponnambalam and Shiv Kumar Subramaniam played supporting roles in the movie.

Music and Songs of Rakshak (1996)

Duo Anand-Milind composed music and songs for Rakshak (1996). The famous song Shehar Ki Ladki sung by Abhijeet and Chandana Dixit fetched Filmfare Best Choreography Award for Chinni Prakash in the 42 Filmfare Awards (1997).

Sheher Ki Ladki has recently been recreated for the movie Khandaani Shafakhana (2019) composed by Tanishk Bagchi who also authored the lyrics. It was sung by Abhijeet, Badshah and Tulsi Kumar. Originally paired Sunil Shetty and Raveena Tandon also appeared in the remake song. 

Foot tapping song Sundara Sundara sung by Vinod Rathod and Sapna Mukherjee also made a good impact. 

Rakshak (1996) Movie Plot

Dejected by the rest of the world Raghu (Raghuvaran) decides to teach the whole world a lesson by becoming rich by hook or by crook. 

He stars printing fake currency that looks like exactly the same as of real currency. Soon he becomes notorious for his work and noticed by a dreaded underworld don Bardha (Pramod Moutho). 

Raghu starts work for Bardha. However, Raghu’s dreams and ambitions are much higher than to just work for an underworld don. He wants the undisputed position of underworld don. 

Raghu gathered some strength by working under Bardha and becomes very powerful. Raghu waits for the right time and when he finds opportunity he kills Bardha and becomes the undeniable underworld don.

Time goes away and Raghu becomes more powerful. After a few years Raghu comes to know that his Brother-in-Law Raj Sinha is coming to his city along with his wife Suman (Karisma Kapoor), his son Bunty (Zeeshan Shaikh) and his mother (Aruna Irani). 

Since Raj is a dead honest Assistant Commissioner of Police, Raghu decides to make a halt over all his illegal activities until Raj returns to his city. He also informs other goons not to do any illegal activity until Raj returns. 

However, situation takes a U Turn when some big gangsters, working under him, don’t get ready to halt their illegal work. Thus, soon Raj comes to know about the illegal activities going on in the city. He also comes to know that Raghu is the head of the syndicate.

Raj threats Raghu to make him behind the bars. Furious Raghu then kidnaps Suman, Bunty and Raj’s mother. However, Raj wants to arrest Raghu at any cost. Tragically Suman and Raj’s mother have to pay the price for the honesty of Raj by giving their life.

Now Raghu wants Raj not to take any action against him if he wants his song alive. However, Raj is not sure about the existence of Bunty. He decides to take revenge from Raghu. However, it would not as easy as it appears.
