In present times, the fact has been accepted that business cannot be done without being corrupt. Corruption has become a synonym for business. The word die is hidden in the customer, so a robbery is put on the customer's pocket that the poor person dies. But the film, written by Jaideep Sahni and directed by Shimit Amin, gives the message that one can trade successfully through his hard work and dedication without being bribed, without being corrupted.
Harpreet Singh Bedi (Ranbir Kapoor) has graduated with merely 39 percent numbers and has decided that he will go into the world of sales. Now not everyone can become a doctor or an engineer. He goes on to interview the computer-selling company At Your Service (AYS). He is asked to show himself by selling him, which Harpreet fails. But the owner of the company sees him in it and Harpreet gets the job.
For the first time, Harpreet goes to a big company selling computers, and the employee working there asks for his commission. Honest Harpreet knows this and he complains against her. This was enough to make Harpreet's boss angry, calling him 'Zero' while abusing him. Workers tease him by hitting paper rockets.
One day Harpreet gets an order to supply two computers, which he personally sells. He then realizes how much his company is robbing his customers. He creates his own company 'Rocket Sales Corporation' parallel to the company, in which he adds some more employees.
Harpreet's company works with fewer profits, better service, and honesty and competes with AYS company. Eventually, the distinction between Harpreet and his associates is revealed and Harpreet's boss Sunil Puri buys his company. Harpreet Poor comes on the road, but his customers are not satisfied with Sunil's company. Finally, he accepts his defeat with Harpreet and returns to his company.
Ranbir Kapoor and Gauhar Khan have placed lead roles. Shazahn Padamsee, D Santosh, Naveen Kaushik, Manish Chaudhary, Neeraj Sood, Mukesh Bhatt, Rajesh Jais, Prem Chopra, Mokshad Dodwani, Amol Parashar, Kyra Dutt, Bikramjeet Kanwarpal, Ramesh Goyal , Firdaus Mewawala, Rohit Kukreja, Rashmi Kulkarni, Sudhir Nema, Neeraj Sood and Gireesh Sahedev have placyed supporting roles in the film. |
Screenplay written by Jaideep Sahni introduces the subtlety of a company's working style and atmosphere. How there are jealousy and rivalry among the working employees. How a boss forgets humanity and puts pressure on his employees through sales targets. Also, honesty, mutual trust, and can be successful in business without being corrupt, this film also says. But what goes against the film is its length and stance. If the entertainment is accompanied by the message, then the importance of the film increases, but entertainment in 'Rocket Singh' is ignored.
The film creeps at a slow pace before Interval. The movement shown in the business world is very boring. Most scenes are filmed in a single office, which does not provide relief. The film has less action and more dialogues, hence its length is uninteresting. After the interval Harpreet starts his parallel company, then the film gets a little hold.
Harpreet is shown, to be honest, and honest, but does he not cheat by opening a parallel company while working in the company he works in? It would have been better to leave the job and do his business. Or some concrete reasons would have been given to justify his move in the film. His move creates confusion in the minds of the audience. He uses the company's phone for his business. If he used his mobile instead, he would be less likely to be caught. It would have been better if some familiar faces were taken in the film.
Ranbir's acting is being blossomed from film to film. He considered Harpreet's character in the best way and presented it on screen. They looked less like Ranbir and more Harpreet. Shazan Padmasi did not have much to do and she could not impress. Gauhar Khan has performed well. Giri became D. Santosh, Nitin Rathore made Naveen Kaushik and Chhote Lal became Mukesh Bhatt also brought their characters to life.
The music of the film is disappointing; probably not a single song has been included in the film. The dialogues of the film are good.
Overall, 'Rocket Singh - Salesman of the Year' is an honest effort. The film is good to watch even with the enitre family.
Bollywood Product rates the film 7 out of 10.
