Plot Summary of Hindi Film Taj Mahal (1963)

Taj Mahal is a Bollywood Romantic Movie released on 11 January 1963. The movie was written by renowned Poet and Lyricist Qamar Jalalabadi, Produced by A.K. Nadiadwala and Directed by M. Sadiq.  The movie is based on the historical love story of Mughal Emperor Shahjahan and Mumtaz Begum in whose remembrance he made Taj Mahal.

The movie earned three Filmfare Awards in the category of Best Lyricist and Best Music Director won by Sahir Ludhiyanvi and Roshan, respectively. Lata Mangeshkar also nominated for Best Playback Singer Female for the song ‘Jo Wada Kiya Wo’. 

Taj Mahal (1963) Movie Plot

Noorjahan (Veena), one of the wives of Mughal Emperor Jahangir (Rehman) wants to marry her daughter Ladli Banu (Jabeen Jalil) with Khurram (Pradeep Kumar), son of Jahangir. But Khurram has laid her eyes on Arjuman Banu (Bina Rai) who is niece of Noorjahan. Noorjahan, in her first attempt to take away Khurram from Arjuman keeps her like a prisoner in her palace but the attempt was failed. Aggravated Noorjahan sends Khurram in a battlefield knowing that he would be defeated. However, she failed again as Khurram returns with a triumph over the battle and named as Shah-E-Jahan.  

Noorjahan managed Saifudin (Jeevan), his step son, to kill Khurram. He though stabbed Shah-E-Jahan but his life was saved with the help of Arjuman. Jahangir after knowing about Arjuman and how he saved Shah-E-Jahan, arranged their alliance and they were wedded soon and Ladli Banu was finally married to Saifdin. But Noorjahan has some plan to uproot Shah-E-Jahan and Arjuman Banu now called Mumtaz.
