Fimfare Special Award
Filmfare Awards is one of the prestigious awards in India that acknowledge the talent of artists in Hindi Cinema commonly known as Bollywood.
Filmfare Awards are given in arious categories that includes technical and non technical. One of such categories is Filmfare Special Award.
First Filmfare Awards ceremony held on 21 March 1954 in Bombay (now Mumbai). However, the category for Special Award was introduced in the year 1972.
Special Award is quite different from other Filmfare Awards. This Award is not necessarily given every year. Speical Awards is for an artist who does something special or unique in the field of Direction, Acting, Singing, Music and Filmmaking etc.
Filmfare Special Award is known by some other names also like Special Performance Award, Special Jury Awards or Special Mention Award. It is given by Filmfare Magazine as a part of Filmfare Awards which is given every to honor talented artists of Hindi Cinema for their excellent work in respective field.
Actress Jaya Bachchan and Actor Prithviraj Kapoor became the first two person to receive this Filmfare Special Awards in the year 1972.

Fimfare Special Award-Highlights

Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Rajesh Khanna, Lata Mangeshkar and Govinda received Filmfare Special Award twice.

Lata Mangeshkar requested not to nominate her For Best Female Playback Singer years back in order to promote new talents. The jury decided to give her Filmfare Special Awards for the song Didi Tera Devar Deewana from the movie Hum Aapke Hain Kaun in the 38 Filmfare Awards 1993.

Lata Mangeshkar awarded Special Golden Trophy for completion of 50 yeas of Filfmare Awards in the 49th Filmfare Awards 2004.

Amitabh Bachchan received this Special Award twice in 45th Filmfare Awards 2000 and 56th Filmfare Awards 2011. He was crowned as Star of the Millennium in the year 2000. Thereafter, he received the 2nd one in 2011 for completing 10 years in Indian Cinema.

Jaya Bachchan received the very first Filmfare Special Award in 19th Filmfare Award 1972 for her excellence performance in movie Uphaar. She received another one in the 43rd Filmfare Awards 1998 for her unmatched performance in the movie Hazaar Chaurasi Ki Maa.

Rajesh Khanna received his first Filmfare Special Award in Filmfare Awards 1974 for his performance in the movie Anuraag. He received the 2nd in the 35th Filmfare Awards 1990 for completing 25 years in Hindi Cinema.
