Chor Machaye Shor (1974) is a Bollywood Romantic Drama Movie released on 18 March, 1974 (India). The movie was produced by N.N. Sippy and directed by Ashok Roy.
Chor Machaye Shor (1974) proved to be a Blockbuster Hit on Box Office by earning Rs. 6 Crores approximately (Worldwide) and also became the 2nd Highest Grossing Bollywood Movie of 1974 after Roti Kapda Aur Makaan followed by Dost, Prem Nagar and Bidaai. The movie was later remade in Telugu as Bhale Dongalu (1976).
Chor Machaye Shor (1974) stars Shashi Kapoor and Mumtaz in lead roles. Whereas, Danny Denzongpa, Asrani, Madan Puri, Tarun Ghos, Kamal Kapoor, Asit Sen, Chaman Puri and Meeta T. played supporting roles in the movie . Asrani was nominated for the Filmfare Best Performance in a Comic Role.
Ravindra Jain composed altogether five songs for the movie Chor Machaye Shor (1974) out of which three songs became very popular and still liked my millions of music lovers namely Ek Daal Par Tota Bole, Ghungroo Ki Terah and evergreen blockbuster song Le Jayenge Le Jayenge. Lyrics for these songs were penned by Inderjeet Singh Tulsi.
Vijay (Shahsi Kapoor) is a lower middle calls young man and as Engineer. He likes Rekha (Mumtaz) who belongs to a very rich family. However, Rekha too reciprocates positively and both Rekha and Vijay dream for a happy married life. But Rekha’s father disapproves their alliance due to the Financial Status of Vijay and wants his girl to be married with a rich politician Jamanudas (Madan Puri).
When he fails to make his daughter apart from Vijay he alongwith Jamunada hatches a plan and frame Vijay for a crime he never did. Vijay is sent to jail where he befriends with three other prisoners and together they plan to escape from jail.
Vijay execute the escape plan successfully and also brings Rekha with her and take shelter in a village named Shantinagar. The villagers are terrorized by the bandits and evil politician. They all decide to stay there and help villagers to eradicate the terror forever. But doing this would not lessen their punishment for escaping their punishment.
