1920 is a Hindi (Bollywood) Horror and Supernatural Thriller film released on 12th September 2008.

It is the first film of the 1920 Film Series. 1920: The Evil Returns (2012) is the sequel to 1920.

The film 1920 is also a Period Drama that tells the story of 1920 when a newly married couple enters a haunted house.

The dubbed Telugu and Tamil version of the film is named 1920 Gayathri.

Cast and Crew

Vikram Bhatt is the Story Writer, one of the Screenplay Writers, and Director of the film 1920, whereas Dheeraj Rattan is the other Screenplay Writer. Surendra Sharma, Bhagwati Gabrani, and Amita Bishnoi are the Producers of the film 1920.

The duo Salim-Sulaiman and Adnan Sami are the Music Composer, Raju Rao is the Background Scorer, Pravin Bhatt is the Cinematographer, and Kuldeep Mehan is the Film Editor of the film 1920.

Cast

The debutante Rajneesh Duggal and Adah Sharma make their acting debut and play lead roles in the film 1920.

Raj Zutshi, Indraneil Sengupta, and Vipin Sharma play pivotal roles, whereas Rakhi Sawant appears in an Item Song Bichua.

The tentative budget of the film 1920 was 7 Crore INR. The film did good commercial business at the Box Office, earned approximately 14.5 Crore INR, and was declared a Hit.

Movie Plot

The first story

A businessman in Palanpur, India, wants to demolish his old palace to convert the same into a Hotel. Presently an Estate Manager, MK (Amin Hajee), and Balwant (Vipin Sharma), a Servant, live in the palace.

Earlier, an Architect (Bakul Thakkar) visited the palace to convert the same into a Hotel. However, he died under suspicious circumstances.

A parallel story

Arjun Singh Rathod (Rajneesh Duggal) is an Architect and belongs to a staunch and wealthy Hindu family. He loves Lisa (Adah Sharma), but his family is against the marriage and even tries to kill Lisa. Arjun gets separated from his family and marries Lisa.

Arjun receives an offer to convert the palace into a Hotel with a hike in salary by 20%. Arjun accepts the offer and visits the Palanpur palace with Lisa.

Lisa starts experiencing strange noises. She even enters a closed room and sees the inside. Surprisingly the room was closed for a long, and the key was missing.

Lisa tells about her strange experience to Arjun, but he does not believe in ghost stories. Lisa visits the nearest Church and meets Father Thomas (Raj Zutshi). Later he finds an evil spirit in the palace.

Balwant (Vipin Sharma) seems to hide something. He feels a death threat to Arjun and Lisa. He wishes to inform the couple about the earlier two deaths of the Architects. However, MK gives the money to Balwant to keep silent.

The biggest twist

Lisa becomes ill, and the doctor (Shri Vallabh Vyas) starts her treatment in the presence of Arjun. In the meantime, Father Thomas visits there and informs them that Lisa is possessed by an evil spirit and needs healing accordingly. Initially, Arjun and the Doctor do not believe Father Thomas. However, soon they realize that Father Thomas is right.

 Arjun forces MK to tell the truth, but MK does not know much about the strange activities in the palace. However, he informs Arjun of the name of the previous owner Radha (Asha Sharma), who lives at Naya Nagar.

Arjun leaves Lisa in the care of church members and goes to Naya Nagar, where he tracks Radha, now an old lady. She tells the story of Gayathri.

Who was Gayathri? Is there any connection between Gayathri and Lisa? Whose spirit has possessed Lisa and why? The film 1920 gives replies to all these queries.
