Athadu is Telugu -language ( Action and Thriller ) film released in cinemas on 10 August 2005.
Nandu (Mahesh Babu) is a skilled assassin, and Malli (Sonu Sood) is his partner. Politician Siva Reddy (Sayaji Shinde) hires them to stage a fake attack for sympathy votes. But on the planned day, someone really shoots Siva Reddy dead, and Nandu gets framed. While escaping, Malli dies in a car crash, and Nandu jumps onto a moving train.
On the train, Nandu meets Pardhu (Rajiv Kanakala), who is returning to his village after years. At a station, police mistake Pardhu for Nandu and shoot him dead.
Nandu goes to Pardhu’s village, Basarlapudi, to inform the family, but they think he is their long-lost Pardhu. Seeing their happiness, he stays back, helps them in many ways, and wins their trust. Only Pardhu’s childhood friend Ramana (Sunil) knows the truth.
Meanwhile, CBI officer Anjaneya Prasad (Prakash Raj) starts an investigation into the Siva Reddy murder case and starts suspecting Nandu. On the other hand, Nandu quietly searches for the real killer while trying to protect the family, who now see him as their own.
