Baiju Bawra (1984) is a Musical Bollywood Movie released on 5 October 1952. Vijay Bhatt produced and directed the movie.
Naushad composed songs based on the classical music for the movie that proved overwhelmed and unexpected success. Naushad won Filmfare Award for Best Music Director in the First Filmfare Awards (1954).
Some songs from the movie became immensely popular like Tu Ganga Ki Mauj Main, O Duniya Ke Rakhwale, Mohe Bhool Gaye Saanwariya, Jhoole Me Pawan Ke, Man Tarpat Hari Darshan Ko, Bachpan Ki Mohabbat Ko and Door Koi Gaaye.
Meena Kumari and Bharat Bhushan played the lead roles in the movie. Whereas, Mamohan Krishna, B.M. Vyas, Kuldeep Kaur, Bipin Gupta, Ratan Kumar and Baby Tabassum played the supporting roles in the movie. Meena Kumari won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress.
Tansen was one of the nine jewels of Mughal Emperor Akbar. During his tenure, no one allowed to sing until he could sing better than Tansen.
Young Baiju witnesses his father’s death when a fight ensues between him and guards of Tansen to his father from singing. Baiju (Bharat Bhushan) grows young with the intension to take revenge for his father’s death. In the meantime, he falls for Gauri (Meena Kumari), a village girl.
Some dacoits attack on the village but Baiju manages to stop them by singing heart touching song. They bring Baiju with them. The leader is actually a princes Roopmati (Kuldeep Kaur) who also wants to take revenge from the Mughal’s.
Baiju returns and learns music by Guru Haridas (Rai Mohan) who suggests him forgetting revenge to learn real music. Birju tries to follow the principle of his Guru but cannot forget the revenge.
Finally he reaches in the emperor’s palace but is imprisoned and the only way to safe is life is to defeat Tansen. Baiju eventually won the battle and not only saves his life but also asks King Akbar to spare Tansen too.
Though Baiju takes his revenge successfully yet an upcoming death threat is just a few steps ahead of him that can also separate him from his love.
