Dhan Daulat - Hindi Film 1980

Dhan Daulat [meaning Wealth] is a Hindi (Bollywood) Family Drama film released on 11 January 1980.

Cast and Crew

Harish Shah is the Director, and Vinod Shah is the Producer of Dhan Daulat. Sachin Bhowmik is the Story and Screenplay Writer, whereas Majrooh Sultanpuri is the Lyricist, and Sagar Sarhadi is the Dialogue Writer of Dhan Daulat.

R. D. Burman is the Music Director, Munir Khan is the Director of Photography (Cinematographer), Sudhendhu Roy is the Art Director, and Bimal Roy is the Film Editor of Dhan Daulat.

Cast

Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh play the lead roles in Dhan Daulat. The film also features Rajendra Kumar, Prem Nath, Pran, Madan Puri, Prem Chopra, and Sujit Kumar.

Kader Khan, Daljeeti Kaur, Preeti Ganguli, Asin Sen, Jagdish Raj, and Master Raju are in a guest appearance in Dhan Daulat.

Movie Plot

Vasudha Saxena (Mala Sinha) and Raj Saxena (Rajendra Kumar) are love birds and marry at a temple to start a new life. Vasudha becomes pregnant soon, but Raj Saxena goes missing.

Vasudha gives birth to a baby boy, but her husband is still missing, and she has to find shelter and work for her livelihood. She leaves everything to destiny and starts a new journey with her baby boy.

Vasudha stops at a Dabha (a small local restaurant), where many truck drivers are having their meals. She enters one of the trucks parked there, belonging to two drivers, Bajirao (Pran) and Mangat (Prem Nath), to reach somewhere. The boy starts crying in hunger, and Vasudha gets down to buy milk, leaving her son unattended. In the meantime, the truck goes away, and she loses her baby boy.

Mangat and Bajirao give the boy a name, Lucky, and nurture him like their son. Grown-up lucky (Rishi Kapoor) lives in Bombay (now Mumbai) with his foster fathers,  Mangat and Bajirao. Vasudha Saxena (Mala Sinha) also lives in the neighborhood and runs a small vegetable shop. She treats Mangat and Bajirao like her brothers.

Lucky meets Shanti (Neetu Singh), and they fall in love. However, Shanti's father (Madan Puri) humiliates Lucky for his financial status and for not knowing about his biological parents. Lucky asks Mangat and Bajirao about his parents and learns that someone abandoned him in the truck. Lucky gets very angry and hates his parents.

Vasudha overhears the conversation and realizes that lucky is her son. However, she keeps quiet because Lucky hates his parents.

Lucky wants to start a Match Box making business for which he needs 25000 rupees. Mangat and Bajirao mortgaged their truck for 10000 rupees. Vasudha and other neighbors help Lucky to raise the rest of the fund of 15000, and Lucky starts making Match Box.

A parallel story

Raj Saxena (Rajendra Kumar), the husband of Vasudha and father of Lucky, is a big business tycoon now. He runs a Match Box making company too. When Raj Saxena finds Lucky as a competitor in his matchbox business, he destroys Lucky's business.

Sujit Chopra (Prem Chopra) meets Lucky and offers help and support. Sujit wants revenge on Raj Saxena because the latter sent him to jail for illegal activities.

Lucky joins Sujit and starts destroying the businesses of Raj Saxena one by one. Lucky soon becomes a wealthy person, but he loses everyone, including his foster fathers, Vasudha, and Shanti (Neetu Singh), because no one wants to be part of earning from illegal activities.

In the meantime, the police arrest Lucky after Raj Saxena makes a complaint against him. However, Lucky flees from the police station.

What happens next is the rest of the story of Dhan Daulat.
