Ghoomer - Hindi Film 2023

Ghoomer is an Indian Hindi-language (Bollywood) Sports Drama film that premiered worldwide on 12 August 2023 at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) Hoyts Docklands in #Melbourne, Australia. The film was released worldwide in cinemas on 18 August 2023.

Film Ghoomer takes inspiration from the incredible achievement of Karoly Takacs, who was the first shooter to win two Olympic gold medals in the 25-meter rapid-fire pistol event, both with his left hand after his right hand was seriously injured. He has achieved more than when they were called "normal."

He's the third athlete with physical disabilities who took part in the Olympic Games. The first was George Eyser in 1904, then Olivér Halassy in 1928. After them came Liz Hartel in 1952, followed by Neroli Fairhall in 1984, and Oscar Pistorius in 2012.

Movie plot

In the movie "Ghoomer," we meet Saiyami Kher, a young girl who loves cricket. She's an aspiring cricketer with big dreams, but everything changes when she loses her right hand in an accident. Her hopes of playing cricket shatter, and she becomes so sad that she wants to end her life.

Abhishek Bachchan plays a former cricketer in the film. He's feeling low, unsuccessful, and frustrated with life. Their paths cross, and the man sees Saiyami's struggle. He decides to help her find a new purpose.

He introduces a fresh dream to Saiyami and brings a twist of luck using creative training methods. He trains her to use her left hand for cricket. This new approach gives her a chance to make her way back to the Indian cricket team. But there's a twist - she's a left-handed bowler this time.

As they embark on this journey together, they develop a unique bowling style called "Ghoomer." It's a strategy that they use to confuse and outsmart their opponents.
