Khichdi is a South Asian food made by mixing rice and lentils. The movie "Khichdi" tells the story of a similar mix-up, where the quirky Parekh family finds themselves in a funny and confusing situation.
The Parkh family consists of the elder Babuji (Anang Desai), his eldest son Praful (Rajeev Mehta), Praful's wife Hansa (Supriya Pathak), Hansa's brother Himanshu (Jamnadas Majethia), Praful's younger brother's widowed wife Jayshree (Nimisha Vakharia), Hansa and Praful's daughter Chakki, and Jayshree's son Jacky.
The family is so wacky that when the God of knowledge (Satish Shah) comes to visit the Parekh family, they drive him crazy and make him want to return to heaven.
The Parekh family receives news about Hansa and Himanshu's father's (Arvind Vaidya) critical condition.
With his final moments approaching, he expresses a last wish - to fulfill Himanshu's dream. Himanshu opens up about his aspiration for a legendary marriage.
Despite numerous rejections, Himanshu eventually falls for Parminder Kaur (Kirti Kulhari), their neighbor's daughter. The two become engaged, paving the way for a new chapter.
On the anticipated wedding day, Himanshu realizes that his marriage lacks the thrill and adventure he longed for. Fueled by this epiphany, the Parekh family intervenes, putting the wedding on hold.
They attempt to sow discord between Parminder and Himanshu, hoping for a breakup that can eventually lead to a remarkable reunion.
In a surprising turn of events, the crazy Parekhs devise a plan to rob the house of Parminder's close friend, Chakku Singh.
However, upon arriving, they stumble upon a grim discovery - Chakku has been murdered. The police apprehend Himanshu, pegging him as the prime suspect in the case.
This unexpected twist leads to Parminder's brother calling off the marriage.
As the legal proceedings unfold, hilarious truth unfolds. On the other hand, Parminder's marriage is fixed with someone else.
With time running out, the eccentric Parekh family needs to get Himanshu out of jail while preventing Parminder's upcoming wedding.
Can they achieve these goals and fulfill Himanshu's late father's dream? The film "Khichdi: The Movie" answers all these questions funnily and amusingly.
