Paa is a Bollywood Comedy Drama Film released on 4 December 2009. R. Balki directed the film whereas Sunil Manchanda, Abhishek Bachchan, and Amitabh Bachchan have produced the film. The film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, and Vidya Balan in lead roles. Ilaiyaraaja composed the soundtracks for the movie.
Paa means father in English, inspired by an American Film Jack (1996), and is based on the relationship of a boy with a rare genetic condition known as progeria and his parents.
Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan who are father and son, respectively, in real life; reversed their roles in the film. Meaning thereby Abhishek Bachchan played the father and Amitabh Bachchan portrayed his son. This combination makes the film very curious among cinema lovers.
Auro (Amitabh Bachchan) is a clever and clever 13-year-old kid with an incredibly uncommon hereditary issue called progeria. Intellectually he is twelve and ordinary, yet truly he looks multiple times more established. Disregarding his condition, Auro is a glad kid.
The 13-year-old Auro lives with his mother Dr. Vidya (Vidya Balan) who is a Gynecologist and grandmother.
Auro has no idea about his father. At the school's awards ceremony, Auro meets young leader Amol Arte (Abhishek Bachchan) and the two begin to like each other. Later, Auro learns that Amol is his father.
Her mother had become pregnant before marriage, and Auro's father did not want her to be born into this world, causing estrangement among her parents. Auro dreams of his parents reuniting and he succeeds in his cause.
Amol is a youthful, colorful legislator. He is out to demonstrate to the world that "governmental issues" is certainly not an awful word. He is a man with a mission.
Auro is Amol's child; notwithstanding, Vidya covers this from him. Amol meets Auro when he visits Auro's school as the main visitor. He goes ahead in the event of opposition on the "visionary of India". Amol chooses Auro as the champ, intrigued by the white globe he made. Yet, being seen with a particularly unmistakable legislator Auro is found by the media.
The following day the media attempts to enter his school. Auro, irritated at this, sends him an email, which says "I disdain you". Amol understands it and acquires a controlling request from the High Court expressing that no one can upset him without consent. Auro, alleviated, advises him of his craving to visit the president's home. Yet, because of Amol's policy-driven issues, he neglects to appear on the delegated day.
Auro, in any case, loses trust in him however later consents to go to Delhi with him even though he currently realizes that Amol is his dad. Although Amol doesn't realize that Auro is his child, he takes him to Delhi to see the president's home.
Auro says that he needs to pardon Amol for his first error (not tolerating him), yet he doesn't mention to him what it is. When on his thirteenth birthday celebration he is in the medical clinic he tells his dad that he, Auro, is his dad's error.
Auro attempts to get his mom and father back together, yet Vidya opposes, still hurt by the way that Amol needed her to have a fetus removal when they previously discovered she was pregnant. Amol understands his error, however, and proposes to Vidya, as he is as yet infatuated with her.
He remains close by when he discovers that Auro is his child. Auro's wellbeing starts to fall apart as he arrives at his thirteenth birthday celebration, his actual deformities making up for the lost time.
In any case, he is at last ready to rejoin his mom and father by and by as Vidya yields to her affections for Amol and her nurturing love for Auro. They play out the primary wedding ceremonies in the clinic before their withering child, inferring that they will wrap up later. Auro, surrendering to his infection, says his last wor
The film was widely accepted in India by general audiences and critics and got commercial success too. However, it received a mix of reviews from overseas film critics, as claimed by film websites Metacritic and Rotten Tomatoes.
Amitabh Bachchan received his third National Film Award for Best Actor at the 57th National Film Awards, announced on 15 September 2010, for his excellence.
Vidya Balan received her first Filmfare trophy in the category of Best Actress along with Amitabh Bachchan who received his fifth Filmfare Best Actor's Award in the 55th Filmfare Awards 2010.
People have certain beliefs about 'Paa'. It will be a cry-washing film. There will be a documentary film on sickness or a film of sympathy for the helpless sick, but there is nothing like that in Paa.
Of course, the main character of Paa i.e. Auro (Amitabh Bachchan) is suffering from a disease called Progeria, in which the person appears to be much older than his age, but the film goes ahead with as a comic element.
The 13-year-old Auro remains in the same condition as the 65-year-old, but the director and writer R Balki has shown everyone's behavior towards him like a common man in the film. Friends studying with Auro at school never make fun of her condition. Nor has there been any attempt to show sympathy towards Auro by showing him helplessness.
In contrast, Auro is a very smart child. Chatting on the net. Solves math questions in pinch. Jackie watches Chen's film and plays the game at the play station. The way Auro's character is presented in a light-hearted manner is what makes this film special.
Writer-Director R. Balki has created humor, satire, and emotion through small scenes. The film had a lot of emotional scenes, but Balki did not make any special efforts for it and did well by staying within the border. Laughter and tears come together in some scenes.
Though the film is titled 'Paa', the relationship between Auro and her mother (Vidya Balan) is also beautifully portrayed. Also, the conversation between Auro and his grandmother (Arundhati Nag) and the conversation between Auro and his friend Vishnu (Prateik) brings a smile to the face.
Many scenes between Abhishek-Amitabh are fun. In the metro train, Auro makes fun of the young leader Abhishek, saying that he goes to the toilet without a Gord and someone in the potty seat can kill him by detonating a bomb.
Auro takes Amro to roam Rashtrapati Bhavan and sends an ambassador car to pick him up when Auro likes to go to his Honda City by calling him a miser.
In one scene, Paresh Rawal asks his 34-year-old son Abhishek whether he is gay? Because Abhishek is always postponed after marriage.
Balki wandered a bit in speaking about politics through Abhishek Bachchan. His motive is that 'politics' is not a dirty word, but he could not properly present the case of Abhishek and the slum. Similarly, Vidya and Abhishek's love story was also dealt with in a little hurry.
Amitabh Bachchan's acting is a big reason to watch this film. He has brought the character of Auro to life on screen. Amitabh Bachchan is not seen anywhere in acting, body language, and voice. Of course, Amitabh will win a lot of awards for outstanding performance.
Abhishek Bachchan has presented the youth leader's gestures well. He has gained confidence as an actor. Vidya Balan's performance is exceptionally well. She also looked beautiful due to the choice of the right dress. Arundhati Nag's performance as Oro's grandmother is excellent.
This film should also be remembered for its key character "Paa". Hats of to Kristin Tinsley and Domini Till without whom Amitabh Bachchan could not have become "Paa". They have done the best makeup that even Amitabh Bachchan can not recognize himself in the makeup.
A Ilaiyaraaja's music suits the film's mood. The song 'Mudi-Mudi' has become popular. The photography of PC Shriram is remarkable.
Bollywood Product recommends this movie to be watched by all and rates the film 8 out of 10. Whereas, IMDB users rated have rated the film 7.5 out of 10.
