Anupama Deshpande won the Best Female Playback Singer Filmfare Awards for Sohni Chinab De Kinare. Anu Malik and Anand Bakshi were also nominated for Best Music Director and Best Lyricist, respectively, for Filmfare Awards.
Sohni Mahiwal (1984) Movie Plot: Prince Izzat Beg (Sunny Deol) visit India with his troupe stay in a town of Punjab. Soon he meets Sohni (Poonam Dhillon), daughter of a potter (Pran), who used to make Metal Pots in the shop of her father alongwith a servant. Beg falls for Sohni and she also feels same for him and started meeting him when the servant is not available in the shop. But soon the news of their affair spreads out in the town and Beg is thrown out of the town. He now disguises him as a shepherd and continues to meet Sohni. However, they made a self destructive plan before they get caught and killed.
