Tarla is an upcoming Hindi (Bollywood) Biographical film sheduled to be premiered on the OTT platform ZEE5 on 7 July 2023. The film takes inspiration from the life of Tarla Dalal, the famous Food Writer who wrote more than 100 cookbooks.
Ronnie Screwvala, Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, and Nitesh Tiwari have jointly produced Tarla. Piyush Gupta is the Writer and Director, whereas Gautam Ved is the Co-Writer of Tarla.
Huma Qureshi will portray the titular character of Tarla Dalal. The other cast will be announced soon.
Tarla takes inspiration from the life of Tarla Dalal, a famous food writer in India. Tarla was born on 3 June 1936 in Pune, British India. She married Nalin Dalal and relocated to Mumbai.
The Pleasures of Vegetarian Cooking was the first book written by Tarla, published in 1974. The book has sold over 1.5 million copies. Gradually Tarla Dalal became popular among women and food lovers. She has written more than 100 cookbooks.
Tarla Dalal popularized foreign cuisines to the masses. She created vegetarian versions of a lot of non-vegetarian recipes from foreign lands.
Tarla revolutionized the cooking industry in India and is the most sold cookbook author in India. She died on 6 November 2013 following a heart attack.
