Trigger is an Indian Tamil-language Action Thriller film released in cinemas on September 23, 2022.
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) issued a UA rating to the Tamil-language film Trigger, vide certificate No. DIL/2/158/2022-Che dated September 21, 2022. The runtime of the film is 138 Minutes and 54 Seconds.
Atharvaa plays the lead role, whereas Tanya Ravichandran plays the female lead role in Trigger. The film also features Rahul Dev Shetty, Munishkanth, Chinni Jayanth, Aranthangi Nisha, Arun Pandian, Seetha, Pradeep Benetto Rayan, Five Star Krishna, Vinodhini Vaidyanathan, and many others.
Prabhakaran alias Prabha, a young man, lives with his father, Sathyamoorthy (Arun Pandian), mother (Seetha), brother, Karthi (Five Star Krishna), and Shree (Vinodhini Vaidyanathan), Karthi's wife.
Earlier, Sathyamoorthy was a police officer but faced corruption charges and had to abandon the job after a past incident that made him a dementia patient.
Prabha works as a police officer. However, he prefers emotions and honesty over office decorum. After one such incident, where Prabha fails to follow the official protocol, he gets suspended by the police commissioner (Azhagam Perumal).
However, the police commissioner knows the potential and capability of Prabha and thus makes him a part of his undercover team.
Prabhakaran meets Janani (Tanya Ravichandran) and soon falls for her. She works at an orphanage and helps Karthi and Shree adopt a girl, Nisha (Baby Dhikshitha). Things take a dramatic turn when Nisha gets kidnapped.
Prabhakaran starts a hunt for Nisha and soon finds and rescues her. He also arrests an injured goon, Aadhi (Vikram Anand), and plans to use him as bait for the mysterious gang leader. However, the gang leader, Michael (Rahul Dev Shetty), kills Aadhi by breaching the security.
One day, Prabha's father, who forgets everything due to dementia, goes missing. Prabha finds him wandering around near a church.
Prabha inquires about the church and the nearby old-age-home. He discovers a connection between the kidnapping and the attack on the police commissioner's office on the way back in 1993 while his father was the investigating officer.
What is the connection between the 1993 attack and the kidnappings in 2021? Who is Michael, and what is his plan? Can Prabha stop Michael before he successfully executes his crime plan? The film Trigger gives replies to all such queries.
