Ajay (Dharmendra) is an honest and upright police officer. One day he witnesses a girl Elizabeth Da Silva aka Liz, rashly driving a car. Ajay stops her and asks for her driving license. It is how they meet for the first time.
Liz is a money-minded girl and wants a lot of money. However, she is frustrated with his miser uncle Mr. D'Silva who is the trusty of her property.
Ajay and Liz soon fall in love with each other and makes an engagement. After two days, Liz telephonically informs Ajay that her uncle is no more. She also asks Ajay to visit her uncle's place.
When Ajay reaches Liz's Uncle's house, a Doctor (Nisar Ahmad Ansari) shows him the dead body of Mr. D'Silva and informs him that Liz is unconscious.
Ajay goes to a nearby Church and meets Father Gonsalves (Nasir Hussain). Ajay requests him to make arrangements for the last rights of Mr. D'Silva. Father Gonsalves is also new there, so he hires people from the nearby village for help.
Ajay finds a man, Ramesh (Manmohan), crying silently during the burial of Mr. D'Silva. Ajay learns that Ramesh is an alcoholic who lives with his wife Maya (Chand Usmani), and Mr. D'Silva used to help Ramesh.
Ajay brings Liz to his home. However, he becomes suspicious about Liz because she seems in a hurry to occupy her father's inheritance. Ajay also learns that accordingly to the Will, Liz can get the inherited property in case of her marriage or her uncle's death (her guardian).
Uncle D'Silva has left an insurance policy of Rs. 2.5 Lakh. Ajay becomes a witness of the death of Mr. D'Silva and signs as a witness. Since he is a police officer, it becomes easy for Liz to get her father's property and insurance amount.
A man (Nazir Kashmiri) visits the police station and informs that his elder son Prakash (Amar) is missing. Ajay (Dharmendra) is shocked to see the photo of Prakash because Prakash resembles the dead Mr. Disilva. Ajay shows the picture of Prakash to Liz, who refuses to recognize him as her uncle.
The police dig the grave to verify the identity of the dead man. However, surprisingly the coffin is empty. Ajay meets Father Gonsalves (Nasir Hussain) without any fruitful result. On the same day, Father Gonsalves is kidnapped.
Soon Ramesh (Manmohan) and his wife Maya (Chand Usmani) are killed, and Liz becomes the prime suspect.
Who is the dead man? If it is Prakash (Amar), where is Mr. D'Silva? Is Liz the culprit? Who is the killer of Prakash, Ramesh, and Maya? Film Baazi (1968) replies to all these queries.
