Charas (1976) is an Action Romantic Bollywood Movie released on May 24, 1976. The movie was produced and directed by Ramanand Sagar who also wrote the movie alongwith Ved Rahi. Charas (1976) was the third collaboration of Dharmendra and Ramanand Sagar who Produced and Directed the movie. Their earlier collaborations were Ankhen (1968) and Lalkar (1972). After Charas (1976) they reunited in the movie Baghavat (1982).
Dharmendra, Hema Malini, Ajit and Amjad Khan played pivotal roles in the movie.
Suraj (Dharmendra) his Father (Manmohan Krishna) and Sister Radha (Aruna Irani) lives in Uganda which is facing Civil War and they are about to leave for India but their house is set on fire by the rebels and Radha could not be saved from the fire. However, her body was not found. Suraj returns India with his Father and finds that his most of the properties have been sold by the caretaker Kalicharan (Ajit) and the remaining properties are being used for smuglling of drugs and other illegal activities. Suraj is now supports police to catch Kalicharan with the help of Sudha (Hema Malini) who is a dancer and stage performer and is being blackmailed by Kalicharan for a murder which was not committed by her.
