Himmatwala (1983) is a Bollywood Masala Movie released on 25 February, 1983. The movie was produced and G.A. Sheshagiri Roa and Directed by K Raghavendra Rao who also written the screenplay of the movie. The story and dialogues are written by Satyanand and Kader Khan, respectively. The movie was a Blockbuster and also became the 4th Highest Grossing Bollywood Movie in the year 1983.
Himmatwala (1983) is remake of Telugu Movie Ooruki Monagadu (1981). Himmatwala brought stardom for Sridevi and made her a front row actress.
Movie Plot: Dharam Murthi (Satyendra Kapoor) witnesses Sher Singh Bandookwala committing a murder and reports to the police. Sher Singh is set free by then makes Dharam Murti’s social position awkward with the help of a woman. Dharam Murti abandons his wife Savitiri (Waheed Rehman) and two children namely Ravi (Jeetendra) & Padma (Swaroop Sampat).
Ravi grows up as an Engineer and decides to bring back the glory of his father. In the meantime Padma has to marry with Shakti (Shakti Kapoor) an evil son of Shamsher’s Munim (Kader Khan). After marriage they start torturing her.
Rekha (Sridevi), daughter of Shamsher Singh, is an arrogant girl and follows the path of her father and harasses people around her. Rekha clashes with Ravi but eventually falls in love with him who also reciprocates the same.
