Johny Mera Naam (1970) is an Indian Bollywood Crime Thriller Movie released on 11 November, 1970 (India). The movie was produced by Gulshan Rai and directed by Vijay Anand who also co-written the story alongwith K.A. Narayan who is known for many acclaimed movies such as Victoria No. 203 (1972), Jewel Thief (1967) and Ek Musafir Ek Hasina (1962). Vijay Anand also won Filmfare Best Screenplay Award in the 18th Filmfare Awards.
Johny Mera Naam (1970) became a Blockbuster on Box Office by earning Rs. 8 Crores and also became the Highest Grossing Bollywood Movie for the year 1970 followed by Sachaa Jhutha, Aan Milo Sajna, Purab Aur Paschim and Safar.
Johny Mera Naam (1970) stars Dev Anand, Hema Malini and Prem Nath in lead roles. Pran, Jeevan, Iftekhar, Sulochana, Padma Khanna and Dulari played pivotal supporting roles in the movie. I.S. Johar who played Triple Roles in the movie won his first Best Performance in a Comic Role in the 18th Filmfare Awards.
Kalyanji-Anandji composed music for Johny Mera Naam (1970) and almost all the songs become very popular during those days. These songs include Pal Bhar Ke liye, O Mere Raaja, Nafrat Karne Waalon Ke, Chhup Chhup Meera Roye, O Babul Payare and Husn Ke Lakhon Rang. All songs were authored by Indeevar and sung mainly by Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle and Kishore Kumar.
To solve a mystery of a Bank Robbery CID inspector Sohan (Dev Anand) goes undercover and join a gang of Ranjit (Premnath) who uses fake name of Rekha’s (Hema Malini) missing father who was directly connected to the Bank Robbery. Rekha also joins Ranjit’s Gang and meets Sohan. Soon they come to know about real identity of each other and fall in love.
However, the true identity of Sohan is at stake when local goons Heera (Jeevan) and Mohan (Pran) become obstacle in his way. Mohan wants to kill Sohan without knowing that they are long lasting real brothers.
