Pakeeza (1972) is a Romantic Musical Bollywood Moive released on February 03, 1972 as a grand premium at Maratha Mandir, Mumbai. The movie was released for the general public on the very next day. The movie took almost 16 years to be completed since its Muhurat on July 16, 1956. The movie was a dream project of Kamal Amrohi who Written, Produced and Directed the movie and presented the movie just like a tribute to his lovely wife and the lead actress of the movie Meena Kumari. But she could not enjoy the success of movie and died on March 31, 1972 after a few weeks of its release.Pakeeza was one of the top grossing movies of the year 1972.
Movie Plot: Nargis (Meena Kumari), an unmarried mother died after giving birth to a daughter who was brought up in brothel by the owner Nawaabjaan (Veena). The girl grows up as Saahibjaan (Meena Kumari ) and falls in love with Salim (Raaj Kumar). They elope to get married but being very famous she is recognized by everyone wherever she goes. She returns in the brothel leaving Salim. Dishearten Salim decided to marry with someone else and invite Saahibjaan to perform Mujra in his marriage.
